Hi guys, I'm more of a lurker on here and have gotten a lot of useful info from you guys. But I'm now having a problem that I can't find any solution to, hopefully someone can shed some light on this for me.

I have to keep the headlight plug unplugged, or else the fuel pump won't prime, and the dash doesn't light up. As soon as I plug the headlight back in, it dies. No third eye, no fuel pump, no dash backlight (lcd and clock still on though).

If I turn on either turn signal, the whole entire dash backlight flashes with the turn signal. The turn indicator arrows on dash don't flash, but my rear signals flash rapidly. Front signals don't work. I have flush mount fronts, and integrated rear. The problem persists even if I unplug the flush mounts and the rear integrated.

If I flip the high beam on, I hear this horrible buzzing sound (likely due to a short somewhere).

So now, I have to keep my low beam unplugged, and have no turn signals. Otherwise it still runs fine... I know it's probably a short somewhere but I've taken the bike apart 3 times and can't find anything... Has anyone ever had any similar issues? Any help appreciated guys!

Btw, this all started happening a few days after I got caught in heavy rain. :banghead:

i would take the right hand fairing off or lift the tank and look for the yellow block connector. The earth G runs through that to the B on the lighting circuit and the dash. this connector may either have water in, or at least you can separate it and work forwards on continuity tests as per the wiring diagram. does sound like a short / lack of earth somewhere

wouldn't say it is common. take the live off the battery. carefully open that connector and check the earth forward towards the front end of the bike to each of the accessories:

i.e. green - earth to green on the back of the cluster
also the green earth feeds the green on the headlight relay, right turn signal, position light, Bl on the main headlight, high and low, left turn signal and tilt sensor.
