I heard from an old Honda tech that CBR is "Cross Beam Racer", although you'll probably get a few different answers on that one. RR is "Race Ready", or "Race Replica", you choose.

rr = race replica/ready...not sure which to be honest...leaning toward replica

cb = cross beam or city bike....heard both

r = racer

cbr = cross beam/city bike racer

My guess is that CBR is for City Bike Racing. It's a streetable race bike, so keeping with Honda's tradition of calling most road bike's CB (city bike), you get the picture.

The "C" designation has been around forever, on both street and race bikes for Honda. CA was the Dream line. CB was Street. CL was the on/off road models as was the SL line. The CT was the mini line. Then there was just plain old C, as in C70.... Tdub
