I was just wanting some opinions on what ya think. My cast comes off my hand on thursday. I had a broken 'first metacarpal'. I plan to ride on Memorial Day, which is 4 days after cast comes off. I do plan on testing hand out on a KX 250. I figure that if my hand is ok on a beast like that, I should have no problems with the smooth operation of the RR. Just wanted to hear what ya's might think about riding so soon. So, are there any medic's in da house?

I'm by no means a doc, but the tip of my left ring finger is broken as well. I would be riding. However, I'm still working on my bike and I haven't replaced my helmet yet. If the bike was ready and I had my gear, I would be riding, broken finger or not. I wouldn't be doing any hard riding, obviously, but I would be riding non the less...

I would say the only issue here is whether you can still flip off the occasional cager that cuts you off, other than that, you're probably fine!

Every break is unique. The most important effect will be the muscle wastage while you had the cast on. So anything that requires those muscle groups to work will be remarkably difficult at first. Like clutch/brake and throttle control.

Be realistic about what you want to do, and for how long. Consult a doc qualified in the field, and ask. Unless you broke an eye, I can't be more specific. Doc's are specialists in their field for a reason. I need to know a hell of a lot about eyes, but I ain't no orthopod. But on the other hand, he knows squat about retinas :lol2:
