For someone who wants to start installing their own mods and performing their own maintenance, what would be a decent tool kit to start with. I imagine something along Craftsman quality and price. I'm not just sure exactly which toolkit would have most of the tools needed to work on the 600rr but still not be too expensive. The selection at sear.com is just overwhelming.

What are everyone's thoughts?

A decent ratchet in all three sizes, metric sockets, good quality screwdriver set, open end wrenches, and allen wrenches should get you started, (all metric).

1. Torque Wrench (Must!!) - get it from autozone ($35)
2. Hex Key or Allen wrench - Metric
3. Tools that came with your bike.
4. Wrench - to adjust your chain

Most of the tools that you'll need is all in your OEM took kit.

agreed..

Torque wrench for sure.. mods instructions will come with Torque settings.

Get a bike stand too.. you gotta lube the chain, wheel adjustments. sprocket work, etc...
