ok well i just got in the mail my chance to re-new my HRCA membership. its been almost a year since i owed my bike and last year i never needed a tow but you just never know right? that one free tow they offer could be well worth it. its $40 for the premium membership that includes the tow...hmmmmm anyone else a member AFTER the free year they get when you first purchase your bike?

I was gonna renew but havent yet...I figure the $40 will be worth it if I ever get in a situation that I need a tow.

Other then that I really don't see any good benefits at all from the HRCA

i thought about getting it for the towing, and then i though how many of my boys have pickup trucks, and how i have one now, and decided it wasnt worth it.
Now if you fall off a lot and need a lot of towing liek mor ethan 1 for the year, then it may be for you.
Other than that... im not feeling it.

Towing is only good for 4 tows a year. That's $10.00 per tow but they will only tow the bike to a local Honda dealership--not a place of your choice.

It's not bad IMO but pay $27 more to AAA and you get unlimited towing within a 100 mile radius.

So when they tow you to that dealer, does the delaer charge you storage, right off the bat, or is there some grace period, where its free? if not, then its more than $40 a year for 4 tows.

If you go to Bike Week or Biketoberfest or many other biking events around the country HRCA members get some good benefits such as up close free parking at the races(Daytona and probably others also), a free bag o crap (which usually includes some Honda polish, couple keychains, a puck for parking in the grass, couple magazines, and other various items), first dibs at events and tickets for events, and some sort of free tool when you renew. On top of that you get an online maintenance manual and free towing so the $40 seems decent. $hit I can waste $40 at a bar in about 10 minutes and personally I would rather have the membership.

Thats my take on it anyway.

I have Motow thru the AMA and it costs like $50 dollars which covers you and a family member for cars and motorcycles. They only dispatch towing companies that have the correct equipment to tow motorcycles not just a make shift tow truck..You also get discounts to AMA sanctioned races + you support our rights to ride...

Quick question, how do you only pay $67 when on the website lists that membership as $100? Did you find a good deal?

if you tow it to a dealer and you want them to diagnose/repair the bike then there is no storage fee. if you don't want them to do any work on it, then they will charge you for storage..at the kawi dealer near bear mountain they charge $22/day for storage.

but think about it, if you have friends with pickups/vans and they can't make it out to where you are, then you will need that tow until your friend or you can come back to pick up the bike. the $22/day storage is still cheaper than having a real tow truck tow it back home for $300+.
