Owned this bike since new (leftover 2013 purchased in October 2014 with ZERO miles). Has been nothing but amazing and problem free.

In fact I just took it out for a direct comparison against a cbr1000rr sp. The power may not be there, but the handling of this bike is right in line with the fireblade. 3 years and going strong

Feedback like this is awesome! I've always been skeptical about high mileage vehicles.


The only reason it's rare to see a high mileage bike is because idiots crash them when they don't know what they're doing and total them.

Now that's not to say I haven't gone down in mine, but a simple lowside is not enough to take down these machines. Just take care of them and they'll take care of you (also, these are mountain, highway, and track miles)

I can chime in on this one. I've got an 05 that sits at somewhere around 35k miles that I just retired from the street and setting up for full time track duty. I have no reservations about the mileage or the condition of the bike after two seasons doing track days.

Just plain routine maintenance goes a long way. And avoiding large, stationary objects.

Mileage alone means very little. In fact higher mileage samples are more likely to have been owned by someone that continuously rides and as a result more likely to be maintained well. It's the high school grads that I'm worried about who just pick them up to be the cool kids on the block.

When you're averaging 7k miles a year on a bike that's only 3 years owned, it's pretty good mileage (yes it's a 2013, but it was purchased Oct 2014 with no miles). I'm on pace to hit 30 by another year or so. So yeah, for not being daily ridden and having only 3 years of riding time on it, it's high for the age of the bike I'd say.

Must be nice living in a place with you know, a lack of winter.

20k, while very low in terms of the actual mileage that the motor can do is unfortunately considered high only because it's rare to see these types of bikes survive long due to idiots splattering themselves and the bikes. But that only works in favor for a knowledgeable buyer. Anything considered "high mileage" tend to sell very low.

Yes I agree. My stating "high mileage" is definitely a play on the irony of motorcycle life spans. 20k is definitely low, but in terms of the usage most of these bikes get, and in comparison to the average (unfortunate) lifespan most these bikes have, this wound definitely be higher than most you find on cycle trader and Craigslist.

i never said it's not a lot of use, i said it's not high mileage. if you pulled your bike apart it's probably mint inside.


50k is high mileage. and that's only because that's when you'll probably be looking at replacing internal engine parts due to wear. (clutch baskets, timing chains etc)




also i think you have a skewed view of how long bikes last generally. you think that 90% of riders are stupid squids and you should be applauded for having your bike for as long as you have.


a TON of bikes would last forever if their owners didn't tire of them and sell them. sure a lot get crashed but that doesn't mean we should give you a round of applause for surviving this long with one bike.

Statistically I can't say that's too far off =). We live in a country where owning and riding a motorcycle is considered for "pleasure", to use Progressive's language. When it's not a necessity, I find that people take less care and caution. Look at a typical accident report and you'll find that the rider was more than likely wearing nothing but a tank, shorts, and sandals with less than a season under the belt ridden on nothing less than a 600 because "250s are slow". So yes, I have a pretty bleak view of the average rider.

you hear about the crashers.


not all riders are crashers. thus your view of the statistics is flawed as it focuses on one type of rider.

Yeah, there's truth in that. I am looking at a pretty biased data set. Still though the crashers are pretty heavily populated with the types that I described. And let's face it, the "low mileage" sport bikes get taken out primarily by that crowd. Browsing the sales ads for other bike types shows that the average mileage is much higher than for a sport bike.

Sorry OP but your bike is quite far from high mileage. For me thats anything over 40k on sportbikes. 20k is barely breaking in a CBR. At 82,000 miles the only thing my bike has worn out is the intake valves, just replaced them. Everything else, even the clutch, is original.

20,000 miles aint ****. Like bored stroking said, about the 40k mark is when an eyebrow could be raised, but even that mileage is low. At about 60k, with total neglect (other than oil changes), you might begin to see issues, but even those issues are easily remedied.

Sleep well tonight knowing you have a low mileage bike, and have years worth of sexy time with her.

I guess "high mileage" is bad if you aren't the first owner... you just never know how they were ridden, how often the oil was changed, etc. But if you own from the very beginning and haven't abused it - why would it not treat you well back?

I got a 2008 CBR1000RR and 2005 CBR600RR, both with roughly 10,500 miles... I guess on the 600 it's age is showing for more than mileage...

LOL, I just took a moment to actually look at your pictures. How in the hell is your bike so clean? I mean like seriously there is not a speck of imperfection on it, even your tires (front and rear) have no chicken strips.

Here I thought I was "good" at keeping my bike clean, and now realize I should be ashamed at how utterly nasty my bike is.

Turned 40K miles on my 09 just a few weeks ago. Had the valve clearances checked earlier this year; not one out of spec. She's still rolling as strong as ever...
