I thought casey stoner was going to be nickys team mate for 2006? Apparently hes confirmed to be with LCR team.

The LCR Team run by Lucio Cechinello, set to move up to the MotoGP class in 2006 with the support of HRC, has confirmed that Casey Stoner would be its sole rider in the premier class.

"I am very happy to make my MotoGP debut with Lucio," said Stoner, who had previously ridden for the LCR Team in the 125 and 250 classes. "The LCR Team is like a home away from home. 2006 will be my fifth year in the World Championship and the fourth with the LCR Team and I think we will get good results together like last season."

“I already lapped on the RC211V last November in Valencia and Malaysia and I immediately had a great feeling with it. I am looking forward to test it again," added the Australian, who had started the pre-season with the Honda Pons squad before moving back to LCR.

The new-look LCR Honda team will join the other MotoGP teams in late January at Sepang, Malaysia, for the first test session of 2006.

Honda signing Pedrosa for the Repsol backed factory squad was one of the main reaasons that Telefonica pulled their sponsorship from MotoGP - Pedrosa was a product of the Alberto Puig run Telefonica academy and had always run in their colours in 125's and 250's. Honda wanted him in their factory squad no matter what, and tread on Telefonica's toes a bit putting Pedrosa in Repsol colours (another Spanish company)

Telefonica are now putting big cash into sponsoring Renault and Spanish World Champion Fernando Alonso in F1 but.........Alonso has now signed for Mclaren in 2007 and they will be running Vodafone sponsorship. Vodafone are a telecoms company in direct competition with Telefonica.

It's been getting messy sponsorship wise for MotoGP this winter.

More updates to the list above:

D'Antin Ducati are running Jose Luis Cardoso and Andy Hoffman

Shane Byrne has signed for Rizzla Suzuki in BSB

James Ellison is very (hopefully) probable for Tech 3 Yamaha running Dunlops and 2006 Yamaha M1's.

Ruben Xaus is on his way back to WSB, can't remember what team but running Ducati 999 F04's i think - not the latest works tackle if they are 04's.

Alex Barros is quoted as going to WSB too riding a Honda but no team mentioned - maybe a 3rd Ten Kate 1000RR or with the Klaffi Team??

The Camel Sponsorship for Honda Pons has disappeared up Max Biaggi's backside so they are just running Checa I think - and therefore LCR stepping up to run Stoner.

The deal ends this year, Vodafone wanted to becone a more major sponsor but conceded this would never happen while Ferrari and Marlboro are together so are moving elsewhere in F1.

I see this year being a fight between Rossi, Melandri, Hayden, and Capirossi/Gibernau - no surprises there, wonder how long it will take for Pedrosa and Stoner to get to grips with the RCV? I know it's taken Nicky a few years.
