Should fit, the penske I bought was on an 05 and it fits fine. Only do it if yours is shot. There won't be any performance gain.

yeah i know that aftermarket will fit, i was wondering if the stock for both are the same. long story but in short i have an 04 in need of a stock shock and theres an 05(stock shock) Ive found for cheap. I just wanna make sure it will bolt up the same as the 04.

Actually there is an advantage to running the 05 shock. The preload adjustment has a greater range (1-10 vs 1-7) which allows for a more precise setting to match the riders weight or preference. I have an 05 shock that I'm looking to swap with mine and everything I can see tells me they will swap.

But before you do that have you seen this?

That a cool deal. Just too bad I've already got a Penske 8987 for my race bike
Darn the luck.
