Up until this bike, I've only had older carbureted bikes (still do). I make sure to run them once a month throughout the winter to keep the fuel from gumming up in the carbs, and to keep the battery charged. Usually I go for a short blast monthly of about 5-30 miles depending on the road conditions and temperature. So I've read here it's not necessary, or possibly even result in problems, to run these FI bikes for short durations (flooding FI). Is any winter precautionary maintenance req'd with FI bikes/CBR600RR? I've filled the tank (10% ethanol is all we have in CT), added "Stabil" to the fuel, put it up on the stands, and trickle charge it once/month. That's it. Anything else I might want to do?

you don't need to run your carbed bikes either.



moden fuel is not 1980s fuels. so many old wive's tales prevail to this day.


how long is your winter? 3-4 months? that's nothing. you won't flat spot your tires if you don't put the bike on the stand (Flat spots don't happen on modern radial tires), you won't kill your battery if you put it on concrete, your fuel won't gum up your injectors, your hoses won't rot, you have nothing to worry about.



put stabil in the bike, run it through (you probably don't even need to do this, but it won't hurt anything), then park the bike for the few months.


just pull the battery and be done with it.

Cold weather (unpleasant riding) is about 5 months here. I like to keep them ready in the event of a sporatic nice day, which is not that uncommon. Nothing I mentioned hurts anything, so guess I'm good! Thanks.

my bikes get parked for about 6 months every year (november thru april), they don't get started, the batteries get pulled. they have no issues.

there are just so many old wives tales. people will tell you to fog the cylinders and keep the bike off the ground, none of this matters over the 6 month storage period.
