In light of fergusonv's excellent "Against the grain topic" http://www.600rr.net/vb/showthread.php?t=46979 let's get the story on how you came to mount your 600RR steed.
This is not a stag competition, I'm just interested.

me:

Age 12: rode mate's 60cc MX bike. Stoked!

Age 18: bought ZZR 250. Daily commutes, weekend rides. Binned it a few times.

Age 20-26: No riding.

Age 28: RM250. Back into riding with two stroke trail madness.

Age 29: YZ426F. What a bike! Plenty of wheelies, air and stacks. Knocked unconcious was the worst of it.

Age 29: GSXR 600. Daily commute and weekend rides. Incident free motoring.

Age 30: 600RR. Daily commute and weekend rides. Incident free motoring.

Age -18: Rode a friends 50cc, almost dropped it. Didn't ride again for a while.

Age +18: Rode my uncles quad ALOT, loved it but almost rolled a few times. He eventually sold it.

Age 23 +-: Bought a friend's CBR600F2 (1994), had to get him to drop it off at my house and my brother to take it to the gas station as I had no idea how to ride it. It felt so huge compared to the 50's and so different to the quad. Rode it for 3 years, no incidents.

Age 26: Bought a brand new CBR600RR. Fell in love after riding a review in a magazine. I got a free track day with it, so did that about 2 months after I bought the bike. A month after that she had track fairings and I started doing more and more track days.

Age 28: Started racing. Woohoo!

1979 rode a mini bike w/ a lawn mower engine...the chain would always pop

1981 rode a kx80 [i think it was a 80] it was painted all black...cool bike

1985 rode on the back of a SL 70, wrecked going around a turn and was thrown into a ditch, friend broke his wrist...stopped riding

1995 bought a 92 kaw ex500, crashed it after 2 days, got back on it and rode the piss out of it

2000 sold the ex500 and bought a 95 Yam FZR600...no crashes

2001 sold the FZR and so my love for honda began w/ a 2001 CBR F4i

2002 sold the F4i and bought a 02 CBR954...devil bike, crashed it after 3 weeks, crashed it again at the track, crashed it yet again and totaled it.

2003 turned the 954 into a track only bike, then traded it for a 2002 CBRF4i race bike...great machine

2004 sold the F4i, bought a hold over 2003 600RR, tracked it out immediately, bought a 04 CBR1000RR...insane bike, crashed the 600RR and couldn't ride the rest of the year, sold the 1000RR..big mistake, rebuilt the 600RR

2005 continued to ride the 600RR on the track, said bye bye to the street...short lived

2006 still have the 600RR, bought a 2006 YZF R6 for the street...wicked machine

2007 will probably trade the R6 in on a 07 600RR :) and keep my 03 RR for the track...

Fairly late to the game, my motorcycling campaign began back in the days of yore. Good ole 2002, where my first ride was a Honda (what else?). A monster she was, beautiful in black, all 250 cc of her. Top speed was maybe 70-75 mph @ WOT. Several years later, I placed my behind on a glistening yellow Ducati M750. She WAS a Monster. At ~64 hp, I hardly ever had to shift her as she was a torquey one. Then, last summer, I wanted a bit of a change in scenery and stepped up to a used but pristine 2003 CBR600RR. Been loving her ever since!

Note: I was bit by the bug after I took the MSF Beginner's class for "fun". Been riding ever since!

July 2005 - Decided I wanted to ride bikes. Dumped $2200 on a 2001 Ninja 250 w/4000 miles (awesome beginner bike)

September 2005 - After riding the wheels of of my Ninja, I got an offer on it for $2400 so I took it, and went to the dealership to scope out rides. Gotta go with the best looking 600 so thats what I did. 05' 600RR. Couldn't be happier.

2007... 07' 600RR?? Lets hope for something big.
