Official Shogun Slider Marking tool thread

Ok so after a few pms Ive realized not everyone has the means to make a marking bolt themselves. I made one and no longer need it. Is what I would like to to is share it for everyone. I'm going to pay it forward to anyone that needs it. All I ask is when you are done either mail it back to me or to the next person who signs up in this thread. I like priority usps. Shouldnt be more than 4-5 bucks anywhere in the US.

Cool Fearing cuts?

Alright.... I put frame sliders on my 09' but in order for me to put the fearings back on I need to cut it in order for the fearings to fit. Does anyone know if you can do it your self with out cracking or damageing the fearings?

Try putting the newly cut fairing back on w/o the frame slider. Then make any additional cuts or adjustments when test fitting the frame slider back on with the fairing in place

If im understanding this, and I like to think that I am, you havent cut the fairings yet. Thats what the marking bolt is for. You screw this in where the frame sliders would go and slap your plastic back on without bolts. Have a buddy stand on the other side of your bike and push really hard in the general area of the bolt and it will put a nice indention in the plastic. Drill yourself a pilot hole, whipout your favorite hole saw, and your in like Flynn.

update: Im going to carve up my factory bolts when I get off work. That will give us 3 marking bolts. I will contact the next two on the list. I use priority usps, all I ask is a small paypal payment to cover shipping. It was 4.85 to NJ from KY for reference.

OK so I worked over a factory bolt tonight, and they are just too short. Im going to go buy the bolt store in the AM and just buy some. My fiance's bachorlette party is tomorrow night and I have to vacate the house. I'll have a couple new bolts ready to ship out Saturday sometime.

Update: I am now back in town from wedding stuff. While I was running around getting stuff ready for the wedding I bought two more bolts to make this go faster. I am going to work them over this evening and will PM the next 2 on the list. I would have done it sooner but as you can imagine getting married involves a lot of little stuff. Have a good morning!

Using gf8coupe's bolt makes installation much easier. I found the best thing to do is mark the plastics with the bolt, drill a hole and test fit plastics again to find the exact center of the slider hole, then measure accordingly and work your way out with a dremel. I would not suggest using a hole saw. It may skip and scratch your plastics.
