16k Valves Way Out of Spec?

Hey all. I'm at EvilMrB's place getting my 16k done at just under 16k and somehow the valve clearances are much higher than spec vs. tighter.

4 intake are reading - .018" vs. spec of .008" +-.001

And he's about to do the exhaust. Are we doing something wrong or is there a reason why the clearance is so high?

I don't race or do anything crazy, just normal commuting and haven't revved over 12k(usually run about 7-9k).

Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

my 09 had 15/16 valves needing new shims at 16k mile check.

did not get "out by how much"......which may be what you're looking for.
