The plasma is not going to have any "ghosting". I have tested many and i am currently testing the 60" samsung w/no issues. By testing I mean it's what I do for a living. I tech and trouble shoot commercial and consumer audio and visual equipment at a test facility in austin, tx. I drag my PS3 up there sometimes to spoil myself.

what exactly do u mean by "ghosting". is that the same as "burn-in" becuz my plasma defintely has burn-in. I had it within an hour of own it even with the anti burnin technology. I permanently have espn on the bottom of my screen. granted I only see it when the screen is fully white like when I turn my xbox on but it definitely has burn in.

getting back in the game.

Just make sure whatever you get is 120 or 240hz (that's refresh rate) and you won't have any issues. Ghosting is the effect your looking to avoid with LCD, Burn in is what happens with static images on plasma's. Burn in is why I prefer LCD, though I will say Plasma has great color.

ghosting is something that happened back in the day of 60hz and even some 120hz machines mainly on plasmas. it is when there is fast motion you see a "ghost" of the previous screen.

So for instance if I went from right to left really fast you would see:

|............................|

on a bad screen w/ ghosting and low refresh:

|............................|||||

like a trailing effect.

Interesting. How old is the plasma?

I've worked and calibrated many TVs in the past 5yrs and have yet to see any burn in.

A few are 55" plasmas at a small sports bars and still look great with no burn in issues.

Yeah, Slaps had the right response to that. There are 4 HD display options dude: Plasma, LCD, Projection and Laser. Mitsubisihi makes laser TVs, they're really just fancy projection models - very nice color output though. And there are 2 types of backlight: CCFL and LED. CCFL is what has traditionally been used and provides decent color output and lighting, it's all over lighting though so shadows and contrast arn't great. LED's came along first in Samsungs 8 series TV's - they use small (sometimes 3-color set) LEDs to light specific area's of the screen (local dimming) and provide great color output and contrast ratio. OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) is also being used as a backlight but currently only in 1 rediculously expensive TV, it is awesome though.

OP - check the BB ad today, remember they'll price match they're own price for up to 2 month's after you buy the item, just need to call in and call them on it.

Your old TV should also still be under warranty - get a new one :P

omg are you that special? LED TVs are LCD tvs. They just use LEDs as the light source. so how can you say they are way better if you have no clue what you are talking about?

Becuz really i shouldn't be buying a new tv for $2k so as it is so there is really no need for me to go an extra 6-800 more (lowballing i think but not sure) more for a tv that is HUGELY different.

getting back in the game.

Your comment holds no water once so ever. The difference between LCD TV's and LED LCD TV's is the lighting source so just because it's "The New Thing" in no way makes it better. There are a few gains from going LED but they are minimal and the actual screen is the same in either LCD TV. The LED's Tv's use LED's(obviously) and regular LCD's you CCFL(i believe that is the abbreviation).

getting back in the game.

LED save energy, seem to be slightly better in a brief side by side comparison at Fry's but not sure if how its will compare when adjusted properly.

Tons of info on LCD or LED TV on this website

AVS FTMFW!!!

OLEDs are coming out slowly.
Most of them are 32" from what I have seen.

Late next year(supposedly), we should be seeing OLED laptops and more TVs.
