Well lets see here...

Unless his TV is capable of more than 1080p (its not because he said its not, and that res. isnt on the market yet) then lke I said, IT WILL BE MORE THAN ADEQUATE FOR THE APPLICATION HE IS USING IT IN!!! minus audio.

Since his TV is only stereo, however, he would be fine with analog audio connections.

I'm not really worried about sound as I'm merely going to b using this as a monitor when I plug my computer to it. I just think. 55" monitor sounds badass lol. but if I did want sound I would need another cable?

getting back in the game.

Doesn't he need a video card with TV-out capability first? Then the cables. I have my pc hooked up to my 50 inch to watch downloaded movies and tv shows. Bought a video card with tv out and a dvi to hdmi cable. Everything looks great. I have the audio going sep to the Bose.

He more than likely already has some sort of video out on his computer already.

You could also just hook up your VGA cable from your computer to your tv. If you have a 55", it should have a VGA input

Have my laptop hooked to my 52" TOC. Use DVI to HDMI on the laptop dock station. Mini jack for the audio to RCA. Works great for video, surfing ect. Have bluetooth keyboard as well. Laptop is in A/V closet behind wall the TV is mounted on.

You will love the big screen.....

Tv had PC input. blue connection like on the tower where u would normally hook ur monitor too. that's what it looks like. no DVI input.

nevermind just did a search. I have a a dvi input on my laptop so i just confirmed that i definitely need the DVI to HDMI cable. Gonna hit up staples in a few and see if they have one.

getting back in the game.

I went ahead and ordered a 12ft. Belkin DVI to HDMI cable from Apple.com. Only one i could find was at Best Buy and it was $50 and 6ft. i got one from apple for $30 plus shipping and it's 12ft. so should have it monday-wednesday.

getting back in the game.

The only issue you may have is the "handshake" when hooking up to the two. Mine has to cycle through the menu with the laptop on one time before it sees the laptop and turns on.. No big deal just to let you know.. T
