Its been that way since Obama took the lead in the primaries. Look up prices for AR-15 lowers and you'll see they skyrocketed.

Actually I just looked them up and they seem to have dropped down to somewhat more reasonable levels probably because of the economy. Still almost double what they were but not that bad...

I know theres a number of gun owners on this forum..... I can't speak for you but I'm active in the pro-guns rights. I fax my congress when anti-gun bills come up, I'm a member of 2nd amen. rights sites etc.....Stay informed!!!
We need to start speaking out in volume....If your not a member of the NRA, its a good time.

When the 2nd amendment goes then the rest are sure to follow...........

that is fu*king lame.
the AR prices are pretty reasonable in my area, lowers are $125 or so right now for most brands.

as soon as i get some more dough together im gonna be sure to get mine.

it looks like this wont try to get pushed through until 2010 tho, as the dems dont want to sour their chances of re-election.

for a stripped lower only? or a complete lower w/ full parts and stock?
a complete lower w/ the basic stuff is 300 bucks or so here too.
the stripped lower only is 125 - 200 depending on brand.

Any what exactly will these laws change? I don't think hardcore criminals/nutcases purchase firearms the way we do.

Symbolism over substance.

exactly, but dumb f*ck politicians like to feel good about making guns harder to get for law abiding citizens.

less than 1% of gun crime is caused by "assault weapons", but we need these banned because they look menacing

I am rathar Jeffersonian in my views of this government action.
THey are chipping away at our liberties a little at a time.
At this pace....In a few dacades we will have none!
We were warned about the "big brother" government in the early years of the formation of our country

Quote:
The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it. Thomas Jefferson

“Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.” (Thomas Jefferson quoting Cesare Beccaria)

The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.
Thomas Jefferson

Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.
Thomas Jefferson

When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.
Thomas Jefferson

My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.
Thomas Jefferson

God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty.... And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.

It is our duty still to endeavor to avoid war; but if it shall actually take place, no matter by whom brought on, we must defend ourselves. If our house be on fire, without inquiring whether it was fired from within or without, we must try to extinguish it.
Thomas Jefferson

For a people who are free, and who mean to remain so, a well-organized and armed militia is their best security.
Thomas Jefferson

Every citizen should be a soldier. This was the case with the Greeks and Romans, and must be that of every free state.
Thomas Jefferson

All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.
Thomas Jefferson

Most bad government has grown out of too much government.

I have a couple of guns and I am going to inherit a small (15-20) collection. I have my CCW and I am a lifetime member of the NRA. My question is... Do you really think that, in the grand scheme of things, this is going to matter? I go shooting once or twice a month and love to shoot my buddies .50 cal Anzio, but I really have a hard time seeing where is this leading us down the wrong path. Maybe one day I will be proven wrong, but I hope not.

this is a lower, its the only part that requires a FFL and it needs to be bought through a gun store usually.
every other part is available w/o any special license or permit. so you can buy it at a gun show, off ebay or other internet sites etc.

a stripped lower like this can be had for 100-200 bucks new.

then you build the rifle up w/ a lower parts kit $65 usually
stock anywhere from $60-$200 depending on how fancy you want
upper consisting of barrel, charging handle, gas block, grips etc $400 and up depending on what you want.

check out this site for info on building one, or just to drool over the sexy rifles some guys have built sparring no expense in the rifle or optic.
