Wow, I really expected that to be an Onion article or something. Just goes to show how pathetic Nobel prizes have become. Seriously wtf has Obama done in regards to peace?

Did he close Guantanamo bay? No.
Did he stop the war in Iraq? No.
Did he stop the war in Afghanistan? No.
Is he against Isreal's inclusion in the NNPT? Yes.
Is he saber rattling/threatening Iran with sanctions/war? Yes.

WTF is so overly peaceful about Obama? I'm not suggesting he's overly aggressive or dangerous, but what has he done in his first 2 - 3 weeks in office (nominations cutoff) to earn this prize? This prize used to be relegated to people with incredible life long contributions like Mother Teresa, Dalai Lama... etc.

Arg, this annoys me more than the stupid Al Gore Nobel.

That's BS, there are TONS of people far more deserving of a Nobel than Obama. Nobel peace prize isn't restricted to certain yearly achievement or anything. It can be given away to anyone that merits the award.

This is such an obvious politically motivated pick that it's disgusting. The Nobel peace prize is a joke now days... In the past you actually had to do something meaningful to get it. Now they're just trying to make political statements with the prize. All they're just tarnishing a good/noble institution with this crap... it doesn't help anyone... not even Obama.

No one in their right mind thinks he deserves this thing...

If you look at the statistics you will see that most "dummycrats" have gotten the nobel peace prize.

Coming Soon to Non Free America!
Obama spreads wealth to the lazy people that don't want to work
Bigger Goverment = higher taxes to cover the expense of all the hard working senetors (ya right).
Health Care Reform = I wonder who will cover the cost for that, Ummmm Oh ya the tax payer.

The bottom line is that Obama and his followers just you over... Let's give thanks to all that voted him in, and taking freedom away from us.

LOL, it's funny you insult democrats by calling them "dummycrats" and yet you're unable to grasp basic homophones. Unless you were referring to pie, cake or pizza you're probably looking for the word peace, not piece. Additionally, I know it's probably hard for you to comprehend... but left leaning people generally care more about social issues. Hence their predisposition to receiving a higher number of humanitarian awards... Shocking, I know!

You super-right wingers really need to pull your heads out of your ass. The country has been going downhill for MANY years just because you're now waking up from your decade long coma doesn't make Obama the cause for everything that's wrong with America/the world. Most of these "freedoms" you're crowing about have been eroded away by the very people you're blindly supporting.

Don't get me wrong, I like Obama less and less every day... but enough with the hyperbole and bullsh*t partisan politics. You really need to stop being spoon fed your political ideologies by Fox news. The republicans have been in charge of the government for a significant portion of the last 30+ years... How about you do some research and let us know how much reduction in the national debt or the size of government has taken place while the "conservative, small government" republicans have been in office.

Wake up, stop the blind support and hatred for either side... Both sides are screwing you over you're just too ignorant and/or blind to see the truth. The sooner people wake up to this fact the sooner things will start getting better.

No matter where you stand on the healthcare debate this is indicative of how the government works... and it should make you sick/pissed off.

The corruption is so rampant... the system is beyond broken. Max Baucus, the guy heading up the healthcare committee... has received 1.5 million dollars in kick backs in the last 2 - 3 months. Keep pointing fingers at Obama...

Did you pick up on the comment at 4:58 in the video? Part of the erosion of our constitutional rights was directly affected by the constitutional amendment to have direct elections of Senators. This had the opposite effect Mr. Moyers is claiming. It now became easier for large organizations (that's both corporations and the MoveOn.org's) to fund Senators who support their agenda.
What happened to the openness that was supposed to be displayed by this administration? What happened to the limits on lobbying? Bushy doesn't get a pass either. We've just gone from uncontrolled spending to pedal to the metal spending.

Democracy: Two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner.
Representative democracy: Two thousand wolves and one thousand sheep electing two wolves and a sheep who vote on what to have for dinner.
Constitutional republic: Constitution that says sheep cannot be eaten. The Supreme Court then votes 5 wolves to 4 sheep that mutton does not count as sheep.
Liberty: Well-armed sheep contesting the above votes.

I guess I will be the only one to say I think he deserves it. Ghandi was nominated 5 times for the Nobel and he only led the non violent movement in India.

Obama like it or not is leader of the free world, he's closing Gitmo if all the aholes who complain about this place will actually allow him to move them somewhere else anyway. Were inching out of Iraq unlike Mc Cain who thought we should stay there another 50-100 years which caused Colin Powell to stop backing that fool and vote for Obama (like any sane person) and we are inching out of Afghanistan.

My only real bitch is that with a controlling majority he does'nt tell the losing side to ef off. Instead by trying to remain centrist as possible has given them a legitimate voice to throw dirt whenever possible (politics above all else right ?) So instead of just leaving the sand box to annihilate itself which was always going to happen we are just slowly retreating.

That and I wish he would shrug off these little puppet governments threats for the big talk that they are.

North Korea says they will make pudding from our bones...ha ha sniper squad attack! Kim Jung "break y0 self f00!" Il

But from a global perspective he has settled the nerves of many countries who worried Bush might just push the button because it was all shiny red and looked cool.

I mean talk about a fake bully - north korea - cuba - venezuela - iran. Some of the many countries he talked big to and called names like axis of evil and didnt do anything.

While he was president North Korea still tested nukes, Iran kept on building them, Cuba is still communist and Venezuela sold the first rights on there oil to China.

All he did was make Cheney rich on Tamiflu and KBR/Halliburton shares.

Pretty much Obama is getting the award for what he's "not" going to do which is to continue this level of insecurity and war mongering that has proceeded him.

at least Obama is pretty humble about it... seems like he has the right state of mind about receiving the award:

Obama: "Let me be clear: I do not view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments, but rather as an affirmation of American leadership on behalf of aspirations held by people in all nations," he said at the White House. "To be honest, I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures who've been honored by this prize."

Obama isn't trying to remain centrist...he's as left as they get. He is 100% socialist, but he isn't stupid. The only reason he wants to right side of the isle on board is because then both sides of the isle can share the blame for socializing America.

He is also pretending to be centrist because he knows there are 2010 and 2012 elections and he wants to keep his party in power.

American will learn again that a country free of government strong arming and free of over taxation is what made this country so strong, just like they learned when Carter was the President.

I'm going to give my 2c on this subject.

Obama has inherited what many analysts coined a "CRISIS", which i'll remind you all was not of his own making. Blame GWB and his predecessors for creating it. But he is the current president and he is attempted to fix it, while John McCain sits back and pulls a David Cameron from the side lines...... bitching and moaning and generally not being "part" of the solution!

There is not a president, king or prime minister that has successfully put an end to the "global" economic crisis all by him/herself!!! That is a fact! And it is only compounded by the fact, that America is the largest consumer in the world.......

What Obama has done and this probably accounts for why he was in the running for the Nobel peace prize. Even though he has not been in office for very long is irrelevant.... He has done more in regards to improving Americas relations with the the rest of the world, than any other president managed in their entire term in office. Obama has single handedly presented the world with an America that is more "likeable" than it has been in the past.

I'm sure you can all appreciate that it is not an easy tight rope for him to walk. On one hand he must ensure the protection of the American people and on the other he must ensure that long standing aggressions against the USA are being resolved. After all, no one wants another 9/11?

Obama is one of the best presidents in the world at the moment!!! Just look around.

He will do more for the United States than any other past president has achieved. Unfortunately the man is working within a system of bureaucracy and this means that things happen slowly, if at all.

On one side you have Democrats and then you have the Republicans.... together they are too busy trying to be king-ding-a-ling and fighting like little children than actually find a long term solution to the economy, climate change, National health and even how many men to send to Iraq!!!! Even though general after general has said, "we do not have enough men on the ground". You can't get much clearer than that!!

I wouldn't want Obama's job!

And so ends the 2c.

If you don't agree with my views.... that's all well and good. But you will respect them, just as I will respect your own views and opinions.

Obama one of the best presidents around the world at the moment? is that meant to be a joke? if so we ain't laughing.

Ron Paul would have been a trillion times a better president than Obamanator ever will, a return to the basics where your nation was founded would do the world a great service (the Constitution).
