Something to consider before voting

Wanted to bring this to everyone's attention before we have votes on this.

IF any of you were wanting to vote for Romney
VAT tax for those that don't know is a value added tax

You may not think this will effect you so much, but wanted to tell you how this will effect you.

If this is something that is put in place. "Everything" will be a higher price than it is now. 90% of all products are made/assembled or parts are manufactured outside the U.S. VAT will increase the price of the product and/or each part that used in the assembly.

Take for example Iphone. Iphone is not made in the U.S. Each iphone entering the U.S will be charged a tax by it's value. If the phone was assembled here and components used were shipped in from out of country those parts would be subject to taxing.

Your nice Astar / dainese / boots / exhaust system is not made here. All will be taxed.

The top 2 questions I get
Can you ship it as a gift?
and can you value it less than $100 so I don't get taxed as much.

If this system is so great why does everyone try and get around it?

This among other things is a deal breaker for me. It's just another way to have more taxes.

I am sure other business's can confirm this. A vat tax is not going to be paid by the business, it's going to be passed on to the buyers. So your suits/gloves/boots/ accessories are going to be pretty expensive with the tax on a $800 exhaust system. But who knows, he may change his mind next week about the vat and be in favor of Obamney care? Or just do both.

Ron Paul WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

way it works here, is income tax with a 13% tax on ALL purchases.

the government took 30% of my wages before i even got it.

works out to 43% of my pay is taken.

So this will effect those in Canada as well because you will not be able to ship to your U.S address and not have to pay VAT, because the VAT will already be added to the purchase price.

So those that can vote in U.S. and work in Canada remember this when you are considering who you want to run the government. The government or the people.

I for one believe we should be worry about our own problems and not policing the world. Fix the problems at home before going out to try and play mediator to other counties. I understand alies, but there has to be a line drawn to what we have say in. Next war is going to be over Oil. If we were drilling on our coast we would not have to worry about this.

a canadian citizen can apply for the taxes back from SOME purchases made in the US, there are + and - about that though, cause you have to pay the duty still.

lotto winnings are better. if i go to the casino in Michigan, winnings are taxed when you cash out (or at least they used to be). but you get a form from the casino and at the border you fill out some paperwork and get the tax back, because lotto winnings in Canada are not counted as income so they are not taxed.

That's a drop in the bucket compared to the damage that Obama has done. Romney is better than another 4 years of Obama any day of the week.

With that said, I plan to vote for Newt in the primary anyways.

I am sure lots of things will change with a VAT.

I see no good from a VAT. No reason the government should get 40% of a mans check. I don't need someone to tell me how they are going to spend my money. I vote these people in and I can vote them out.

States need to take back their rights. States run themselves and decided where/how to get the money from the people that work/spend money. This is not working where all the money goes into a pot and the government decides which ones get the money. California is coming up with some of the strangest laws. I heard 4 loco drinks are banned in California. So what's next, is it illegal to make vodka redbull drinks? I could never life in a state that has so much control over what I do to myself.

I have no idea what Romney is proposing, but VAT (and/or closing down some out of state loopholes) is going to happen with or without him.

I know VAT isn't a popular topic, but tax reform is going to happen one way or another in the US, I'd guess within the next decade. The current system, with all the loopholes is not sustainable in the long run.

Internet merchants enjoy an unfair advantage by not being forced to collect taxes for out of state purchases. This pushes more and more people online to save a few percent in sales tax, thus reducing the amounts collected by local/state governments.

It's already having a large impact on local economies and it's only going to get worse. Many stores will be forced out of business by the likes of Amazon through ever increasing economies of scale, just like Walmart but probably worse.

Getting rid of "GOVERNMENT" taxes is what needs to happen. Loopholes in the system have and always will be in effect. Like I said it needs to be on the state level that taxes are done and this will get the states to show results for their actions. California can ban/outlaw emission control everything and they can control the income/spending that they do. Leave the other states out of their decisions. The 50 states are not in effect to bail out the others that can't figure out how to balance a budget.

All states don't have the same taxes, this is why "online stores don't collect tax for out of state orders" Small business's don't need more paperwork to do, we have enough to do with instate taxes.

Said this exact thing on FB. There will still be Obamney care. Worded a little different but will still be the same thing. People will not realize that nothing will change. Without STOPPING SPENDING there will not be any more new jobs. Those that make the jobs "not the government" are not going to create those jobs because they don't know what the future holds. Government isn't here to create a job for anyone. Just get rid of it all and go back to the basics. Leave me alone and let me live my life without this regulation and that new regulation. Learn how to balance a checkbook before deciding how to spend other people's money. We can control this on a state level and that is the way it should be.
