ARM YOURSELVES NOW, The Government sure is

(IS THE US GOVERNMENT PLANNING ON MASSIVE SOCIAL UNREST?)

Social Security Administration To Purchase 174 Thousand Rounds Of Hollow Point Bullets

Paul Joseph Watson
Infowars.com
Wednesday, August 15, 2012

First it was the Department of Homeland Security, then it was the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and now the Social Security Administration is set to purchase 174,000 rounds of hollow point bullets that will be delivered to 41 locations across the country.

A solicitation posted by the SSA on the FedBizOpps website asks for contractors to supply 174,000 rounds of “.357 Sig 125 grain bonded jacketed hollow point pistol ammunition.”

An online ammunition retailer describes the bullets as suitable “for peak performance rivaling and sometimes surpassing handloads in many guns,” noting that the ammo is “a great personal defense bullet.”

The synopsis to the solicitation adds that the ammunition is to be shipped to 41 locations within 60 days of purchase. A separate spreadsheet lists those locations, which include the Social Security headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland as well as major cities across the country including Los Angeles, Detroit, Oklahoma City, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Denver, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Seattle.

Everything i find on this is pretty much an exact copy of your post. Can you prove that these large purchases weren't made in past years? Otherwise, it's just a scare tactic making something that is otherwise normal seem horrible.

Department of homeland security includes the USCG ad border patrol so I can see why they would need the rounds.

I was already looking into picking up a new AR this weekend.. Every week it seems like something seriously terrifying happening becomes more and more likely.

I just don't know where to stand on all of it. This is probably because I don't know most of my own rights >.>

Hollow point ammunition is what the vast majority of law enforcement agencies use. Sig and H&k have split the contract (the largest handgun contract in history) to provide weapons to the DHS, which includes the air marshals and stuff like that. The reason you use hollow points for law enforcement (and why I and many other concealed carry permit holders do) is that FMJ ammuntion tends to punch straight through people and then continue on to hit other people. Hollow points expand in the target and rapidly slow down, decreasing the potential to injure innocent bystanders when compared to FMJ ammuntion. As for the SSA using their funds, its quite common in the government for one department to use it's finds to purchase items for another department when a certain department needs the items and is awaiting approval to it's budget. Look back to 2006 when Bush was fighting with congress over the Iraq withdrawal timeline and you will see that the Navy and Airforce had to use their money to buy needed items for the Army and Marines due to budget issues. We needed the money to conduct ground combat in Iraq, but congress was holding up approval, so money had to come from somewhere else. A person like you might look at it and say "why is the Navy buying tank parts!!! they have no tanks!!!" but this is just how the government operates from day to day and doesn't indicate a crazy conspiracy.

well

NOAA has a law enforcement branch ...

http://www.nmfs.noaa.gov/ole/

i bet the Social Security office does as well
just like the IRS does ...

so ... i see agencies that either have, or probably have, buying carry ammunition for their employees ....

that's only ~212 boxes of ammunition per location ... that's not THAT much ammunition (assuming 20 rnd boxes)

Define "no one".. law enforcement? the military? where do you draw the line? How can we tell who is correct.. if the police came to my door and asked me to open it, I would most likely comply because, well, they're the police..

That is the scary part to me, that I won't be able to identify my "enemy"

Obama DHS Purchases 2,700 Light-Armored Tanks to Go With Their 1.6 Billion Bullet Stockpile

According to one estimate, since last year the Department of Homeland Security has stockpiled more than 1.6 billion bullets, mainly .40 caliber and 9mm.

The Department of Homeland Security (through the U.S. Army Forces Command) recently retrofitted 2,717 of these ‘Mine Resistant Protected’ vehicles for service on the streets of the United States.

Although I’ve seen and read several online blurbs about this vehicle of late, I decided to dig slightly deeper and discover more about the vehicle itself.

The new DHS sanctioned ‘Street Sweeper’ (my own slang due to the gun ports) is built by Navistar Defense (NavistarDefense.com), a division within the Navistar organization. Under the Navistar umbrella are several other companies including International Trucks, IC Bus (they make school buses), Monaco RV (recreational vehicles), WorkHorse (they make chassis), MaxxForce (diesel engines), and Navistar Financial (the money arm of the company).

gotta suck being this scared all the time. And do some more research into what you are posting. Not even going to post supporting evidence here, as you are already convinced and even blatant proof wont change your mind.

There is nothing unusual about this. GG though, taking a routine thing and trying to scare people with it. You sound like the kind of guy that listens to Rush Limbaugh

This is why the repub. party keeps losing. good thing not enough people subscribe to this insanity.

I already have my own guns. However, I am not worried about the SSA turning into the Gestapo and coming to knock on my door. LOL dude, how do you live in your reality?

Ha, this guy again. Of course you wont provide evidence just like you failed to post evidence of your other posts....am I wrong? Using scare tactics...kinda sounds like Obama. And btw if you researched any of the bills they have tried to pass, it would give the gov't the ability to check and make sure your guns are properly stored and if they were banned they could come and do a search to make sure you got rid of them. Its not always what IS passed, but what they ATTEMPTED to pass that causes issues. If obama had free reign things would be much worse. And in regards to Repub...so this is why they lost huh???? Its not the fact that they had some DA running for office? Only difference b/w political parties this round was that the democrat idiot won instead of the repub idiot. At least I'm not blind and can see that BOTH parties are nothing but a bunch of corrupt children that do nothing but argue. Can you honestly say that the democrats are saints?

Re: ARM YOURSELVES NOW, The Government sure is

The question that should be asked is, why does the federal gov't need these vehicles and all the hardware to go with them? What are they preparing for? Is the FBI, ATF, Marshal service, Border Patrol and state and local law enforcement not equipped to handle peacetime operations? DHS is not a foreign fighting force; correct me if I'm wrong but weren't they established as a means to coordinate intelligence between existing agencies? It's hard to deny the fact that this country is becoming more of a police state every day. One's first thought might be to call this thread crazy, fearmongering, foil hat conspiracy. The gov't may never come get you in the middle of the night, but when it has the means and now the legal authority to do so it should put some fear in everyone.

Military and DHS are two very different entities. The job of the military is to protect against foreign threats. Their budgets have been cut.
DHS and other agencies that regulate and operate on US soil are purchasing weapons in very large volumes.

Sooooo
Less protection against foreign threats because we can't afford it, while the government spends on weapons for agencies that only operate on US soil.

They are gearing up for a threat on US soil, but its not foreign because that would be the role of our military.

BEHOLD! my nemesis....

In all seriousness, I can agree partisanship is hurting only the people. I believe concessions need to be made bilaterally for anything to be accomplished. This however, as witnessed by the recent disgraceful performance in Washington on both sides, seems unrealistic.

However, IMO, which I am aware is not the golden standard, is that as of right now it is a game of choosing the lesser of 2 evils. For me and my convictions, Obama was the less.
With the red and blue stranglehold on this country, if you vote anything other than Republican or Democrat, your vote may as well not count.

And as for before, neither of us submitted actual "evidence", we had a heated debate over matters of personal opinion. I do not believe you nor I will ever change the others opinion....so perhaps the tone of our conversations should not be argumentative but more a discussion of ideas.

I am not a democrat, I loathe gun control. I hate how the media demonizes guns instead of attacking the issues which cause individuals to act out in such ways. In a way, they are treating a symptom instead of trying to cure the disease.

Finally purchases such as the one the OP is talking about are made all the time. A few other posts above me already pointed out what I was referring to. Obama never scared me. I cannot recall what he may have said that some people found frightening, because i guess i was not scared by whatever it way. I support more Socialist concepts and programs in government, so most of his socialistic ideals i embrace.

anyways, good to see you again.

Attorney General Eric Holder can imagine a scenario in which it would be constitutional to carry out a drone strike against an American on American soil, he wrote in a letter to Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky.

“It is possible, I suppose, to imagine an extraordinary circumstance in which it would be necessary and appropriate under the Constitution and applicable laws of the United States for the President to authorize the military to use lethal force within the territory of the United States,” Holder replied in a letter yesterday to Paul’s question about whether Obama “has the power to authorize lethal force, such as a drone strike, against a U.S. citizen on U.S. soil, and without trial.”
