Group buy section sponsor/vendor

What happened to the group buy section?
Sponsors/vendors section is almost none existent.
Giveaways,quick sales,new ideas
Where is the member support?
Stickers/decals/keychains/BBQ's/group rides,meets/bike night

Just looking for feedback from the members. I see there isn't as many on here as there have been years in the past. What happened?

My take? This bike has now aged to the point that people with real money to spend on parts have either spent what they are going to spend or moved on/up to a different bike. At this point, this bike is as it is, there will be a few to want to do some things but not enough to warrant real effort.

I also think the 600 class as a whole is dying, especially the sportbike area and these types of bikes don’t get the attention they once did. Go back 10+ years, this was the beginner bike because there was only the crappy Ninja 250 and it was a fairly lame bike (at the time) that looked like a beginner POS. Now you have VERY nice 300’s from KTM, Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, BMW, Suzuki is even getting into the beginner 250 area that look and ride MUCH better than they have a right to and you have inexpensive 500’s from Honda and lots of cheap 650cc to 800cc bikes for those riders to step up to that don’t require the riding position and commitment these 600’s do. They are cheap, work fine, easy to ride and almost disposable.

Not to mention you need to be a skilled rider to get the most out of a high reving 600, most don’t want to put in the time. A 650 Twin, let’s say, is easy to ride lazy.

Lastly, I think the forums in general are dying because of the above factors and we are in a NOW society where Facebook groups are where people hang out where there is little to no history, nothing is really searchable and you get reactions right then and there and move on.

I think it’s a shame but it’s the evolution as I see it.

- '17 Ducati Supersport S
- '13 Kymco Super 8 150
- '11 Triumph Sprint GT
- '10 Yamaha WR250R
- Past rides: too many to list

All true. I even got a Honda grom to cruise around town on. Just lighter/easier to maneuver than the big bike. Was just wondering everyone's thought on this and what keeps them around the forum? Are they looking to see what that next new mod is or just hanging out?

Being new to the Honda brand and the CBR600rr to be specific, I'm here to gather as much information as possible and to tap in to the wealth of knowledge that's available. Hopefully at some point in the future i'd be able to impart onto others what I would have learned and experienced on the bike as time goes on.

i've noticed that most of the traffic is now on facebook.

the rc51 forums used to be BOOMING, now it's a dead zone with only 3 or 4 posts a day, but the RC51 facebook group has hundreds of posts daily.

Social media has taken over. It's the go to medium for the younger generation.

Aren't most group buys missed then? Unless that group has a specific section for sales. Have a same thing going on in groups on FB and no where near the numbers we used to get on here. Many members are missing out!

@Miweber929 you nailed it! This younger generation for the most part is all about posting on social media. I myself got so tired of FB I deactivated my account. Unfortunately forums and mostly even riding motorcycles for the new crowd in town is old news mostly. Then the rest have all moved on to 1K's.

With the wealth of information I personally got from this forum when I first purchased my bike I really wonder if we lose potential riders because they can't find the info they need in the social circles they only know how to search in.

That's crazy! They don't even realize the deals they are missing out on, then .net turns off it's group buy section so no one on here can even get a group buy going!

Yeah while I find forum software to be clunky, the specific focus is WAY better than FB in organization (like how are you supposed to search for old posts on FB?).

I think it's telling that vB added google search as a search tool rather than even trying to improve their built in search.

I'm still here. My 600RR is track but I like to help out people when I can. I do feel that almost everything about the bike has been covered and there's not a lot to add, as the model has been stable since 2007 and doesn't look like it's going to change (model might even go away soon.)

I would like to trade for a 1000RR track bike, not because I want more power (I don't), I just like the way it looks and am game for a change.

If you ever want to feel good about your 2007+ 600RR, go back and read Bike of the Year articles when the 600RR won in 2007, and realize that it's still the same bike from back then (i.e. fantastically balanced and still one of the lightest weight bikes out there).

Part of it is "social media" part of it is the cost of advertising with verticalscope and the restrictions they impose.

There there's the competition within the market itself - Folks will buy chinese knock-offs all day long and it makes it hard for vendors to compete against because the riders don't support them back very well.

T,

A few mentioned it already, but folks are just moving over to facebook/instagram/snapchat/etc. Forums really are starting to be like the CD in a world of flash drives and mobile device. Some sites are not built correctly and you are unable to even post via a mobile phone. I think the more posts a forum gets, the longer it will survive, you need active membership.

fyi gonna get back to you about my order in my inbox :)

Another Holiday Group buy being missed. Members on here should be wanting to have a group buy section. Vendors/sponsors should be demanding it stay. So many sales are missed/lost because buyers can't see the sales adds on facebook threads.
