Fuel Gauge only works partly?...

Hello. The fuel gauge on my 600rr works about 40%.. When full, it shows full and the bars go down as I ride however only the first 4 lines/bars that disappear. Then the remaining bars just stay even if im empty. I'm currently just going by every 100mi or so and refueling. The bike itself runs fine.
Thank you in advance :)

Open your gas cap, and with a flash light look inside your tank. There is a plunger in there that floats on top the gas. Sounds like it is getting stuck at about the 40% mark. Try messing with it using a long clean screwdriver.
