Should I buy this bike or not help please

Hi!

I help deciding if this bike is worth $2000 or not I will give you a little of bit of details about it.

2006 cbr600rr. Bike it's been at my place for almost 3 years without been use at all not even for warm-ups the owner it's a friend of a friend that doesn't care about the bike, it had been down on both sides no frame damage it's more plastics than anything else a few weeks ago i took her around the block to see how she feels and she rode just fine also started right away.

After the ride I continue look for damage notice that the bike leaks oil from the crank case I think it could be a bad seal, as I was removing fearings I saw there's a lot of screws missing also the strap or whatever hold the ECU on to the bike that part is missing too the speedo is missing all 3 screws as well, also I try to adjust the front forks and to my knowledge they fell very soft the oil could be change bike needs tires at least the front tire, sprocket and chain are original but the could be clean up.

Hopefully I'm not forgetting anything I can post pictures of this bike.

I guess what I'm asking you guys is how much do you guys think this bike is worth any help will be appreciated if you have questions all answer what I can

Thanks in advance.

I'm not real knowledgeable with these yet having just picked one up myself, however, I will say I sounds like it wasn't well cared for. The bike I just bought was down twice, "fixed" the first time and not the second. Location can play a pretty big role in price too. I'm NEPA and payed $3600 for a 2010 w/ 4k miles, all road rashed.

It sounds like your bike is in a bit more need of maintenance than mine was. Pics always help.

I was looking for a deal and don't mind doing some work so I considered what a clean bike would be worth of this year/mileage, what all needs to be replaced (that you can see), what might need to be replaced (things you can't see or likely age/mileage related parts), a buffer for unforeseen things, your time to repair it (no one works for free). Me personally, around here, I'd be reluctant to pay that much for it assuming average mileage.

That bike's on decent shape, fine for track work.
You're knowledge base will increase rapidly with some work on that bike.

If you can do the work yourself you'll be fine.

I bought an 08 with 12k miles for 1500 that was down multiple times, I would do it over and over again. I'm a mechanic so it's not a problem to fix up if the price is right and the frame isn't cracked.

Thank guys your opinion on this project/track bike
I'm not a mechanic but mechanical enough to fix her up this is not my first bike and I do everything to my bikes myself.

I put and offer for $1500 on so we'll see what happens I'll keep you posted.

Since you are a mechanic let me ask you this do you know what this is? Oil leak seems to come from there.

Based on its location Id say its the oil pressure switch.

Find yourself a link to s repair manual on this forum. It will be the best tool in your arsenal. Motorcycle repair manuals are painfully in-depth. Which will be good for you!
