technique question: rubbed paint off of swingarm normal?

Hey guys,

I did a search for this, but only came up with the cosmetic aspect:

https://www.600rr.net/vb/showthread.p...+swingarm+boot

I was wondering if ya'll could chime in on technique regarding this issue. Is it normal to rub the heel on the swing, or is my foot position off?

Here are some pics to clarify:

Paint rubbed off swing

Approx. foot position

Top view, heel touching swing

So basically this is my 4th or 5th trackday.. all at Pocono. (All lefties but 1 turn.) I'm not positive, but i think i'm bearing weight on my right heel at this point during the left cornering while moving off center..

Is this normal? Or is my foot position off? I'm not sure because this didn't happen at my first few trackdays last fall. It's happening a little bit too on the Left side, but the chain gaurd/shape prevents more damage. (Plus only one sharp right turn at Poco)

Thanks for any pointers.

Completely normal. My R6 has plastic pieces on the high wear areas of the swing arm to protect the paint.

put a carbonfiber swing arm protector on there. It will cover the messed up paint, protect the rest (or if you get it repainted) and look super hot

Has happened to every bike I've owned. Consider it a battle scar that you can wear with pride.

I like to tap my heel against it to make sure my foot is far enough back on the peg.

thanks guys... good to know i'm not an idiot.

so those fancy rearsets that people upgrade to don't help prevent this at all? just adjustable?

My scuff is further back on the swingarm, guessing its because of the position of the "fancy" rear sets.

This side is much worse

Megan Fox.... RAWR! Evan also has huge feet so he has scuffed the paint off the swingarm by the rear caliper too. But between you and me, he's so slow, he just goes home with some sand paper and sands it off to make it look like he's a "racer". He does that with his pucks too. That's not even him in his sig...
