Went to the Track, learning how to launch

Im pretty sure i will get flamed for taking my 600rr to a drag strip but whatev.......i realized that this might be the wrong spot for this thread so made on in the racers section.......if a mod wants to he can delete..thank you)

This is like my second time going to the local drag strip(lebanon valley speedway).

My bike is stock except for the aluminum leo vince slip-on. 07 600rr

Tires are metzler m3's inflated to stock ratings......

my wieght is about 210.

this is the time slip breakdown...

60ft.............................................. ..................1.957

330ft............................................. .................4.970

660ft(1/8)et.............................................. .....7.385

660ft(1/8)mph............................................. ..101.50

1000ft............................................ ................9.495

1320ft(1/4)et.............................................. ...11.317

1320ft(1/4)mph............................................. 122.90

im very pleased with this run......i was running mid to high 11.4's the rest of the runs i got..... i am very please with this run as i see that im starting to get a decent 60ft nothing spectacular but still better then a 2.2 i cut the first night out.
i have set my goal to run a 10.9 or 11.0 by the end of the summer and the bike needs to be stock to do so....i can see this happening if i keep working at it the only thing holding me back from making this pass is gunna be my fat ass..lol oh well hope all you enjoy and hope i dont get the flame train right up my rear with no vaseline thank you.....

lower you rear tire pressure to get a better 60ft. At least that's what you do with stock car tires.

have you ever seen a stock one do mid 10's ?

When magazines test these motorcycles they are tested against all correction factors of temp, humidty, elevation and air pressure.

Because these figures are the lifeblood of bike sales they are going to find the lightest rider on the most perfectly prepared surface possible. It's not uncommon for vehicles to run out of gas just past the finish and for tires to be well prepared including shaving heat cycling and VHT

On top of which many if not all times the bikes are hand built "prototypes" that feature balanced and blueprinted engines and it can get really shady from then on including rider dedicated suspensions gearing extra hp - you name it.

A "big name" truck company actually builds chromoly frames for there baja race trucks right on the assembly line claiming them as stock parts. Some manufacturers will do anything.

The only 1/4 mile time that counts is yours.

The best advice I can give you is to ask your local racers, many of them will give you helpfull insight into your local track's proclivities.

you should be able to hit your goal you just gotta ride the **** out of the bike. Right when i get the bike staged i lean all my weight over the front of the bike so it doesnt wheelie when i launch. i usually launch at like 9k slipping the clutch out pretty quickly. my best 60ft was 1.81. i weigh 160 so keeping the front end down isnt easy especially with different sprockets. I only use the clutch to launch then its all clutchless shift from there. I'd love to see someone get those "magazine" times. A stock 600 trapping 132 would be crazy to see.
