new lap timer mount

Had some free time today and yesterday so I made a lap timer mount for my 05. I didn't like the fork tube mounts so this is what I came up with:

It is 1/16" aluminum mounted to the 2 allen bolts that hold the fairing stay/ mirror with one bend in it. I have the drawing template I made in solidworks if anyone else wants to rig one up. I just used the velcro strips it came with to attach the IR sensor and display to the bike, has anyone had issues with this? Seems like it should be sturdy enough but im debating actually screwing them down.

Also, thanks to Disco for hooking me up with the lap timer.

Ill take the drawing template if you have one thanks.

Also what was your reason against going with the fork tube setup? just the looks or any other specific reason?

Nice mount man. I've broken 3 of those fork tube mounts and finally just made one.

Yea I didn't like the placement or the idea of the wire moving around all the time with the bars. I'll try to figure out how to upload the .dwg file soon.

Thanks, had an opportunity to test it out the past 3 track days and it has held up fine, no issues with the velcro not being strong enough either. The clutch lever hits the lap timer though when it is mounted but only at full lock, not an issue while riding.

here it is as a pdf, the scale has been preserved so you can just hit print and you will have yourself a template. The hashed diagonal line is where i put the bend in it.

You know you can buy weather proof mounts for iphone specific, and anything else as well for the bike that needs mounting in regard to ipods, iphone, navigators etc And it can have a locking knob so no one flogs it, or just a simple spindle, pending your situation..
And the whole set up is pretty cheap :)

do a google for "Ram Mounts" good value, i bout a mount for my camera also :)
