VIR Patriot - 7/17/2010

Anyone going?

I'm thinking about popping my track cherry this day.

I'm signing up through NESBA.

I hear VIR Patriot is quite the workout. for your first trackday, you're gonna be sore when you're done.

I've only done North...which is such an amazing track. I love every turn and everything about it.

2007 600RR - Arata Full Ti, Bazzaz ZFI/AFM, Pipercross Race filter, Repsol 4T synthetic, 520 ERV3 conversion, 15/43 renthal sprockets, Galfer Superbike brake lines, Vesrah RJL's, Bridgestone BT002 Pro Soft/Medium, Vortex rearsets, Ten kate replica intake, red/white/black rattle can spray job.

Really?

I've been watching videos on youtube of the Patriot setup to try and get a feel for the track, and it looks pretty fun.

They're running the full course the day before, but it's a bit more expensive.

and here's one from California Superbike School...going through some perfect lines at VIR

THIS is the video from which to learn the perfect lines through VIR North. I think the lap time in this vid is a 1:39, which is good enough for Advanced group. the rider in the vid could've stepped it up easily to mid or low 1:30s, which is race pace.

Hopefully I'll be at VIR North on 7/19 if all goes well for me. riding with Team Promotion (TPM).

I will get my race license either at VIR North or NJMP Thunderbolt by year's end.

Good luck!

Maybe I'll change my track day to the 19th and ride North with you (obviously not in your class).

Hmmm.

do it!! it's with TPM so you might have to pay full guest price.

Happen to know what the guest price is? I just checked out the site and it said $100, but I'm not sure if that's for a member or not.

I think it would be more fun to run North anyways.

that's for "Full Throttle" members. guests ride for closer to $200...yeah it's a slap in the wallet...but it's the most fun you'll ever have.

I've done NJMP Thunderbolt, Pocono FUSA, Summit Main, Summit Shenandoah....and they hardly compare to VIR north.

the CA Superbike School vid just shows how flowing and graceful the track is.

Hm, pretty close to normal rates - just a little higher. Yeah, I've been itching to get to the track. I'm a track junky with everything else, so I'm dying to get out there. (cars, go-karts, etc.) I was pretty close to taking my VR4 out to VIR, but I ended up selling it first.

Damn, well that's good to know, and I'm glad there is a good track only 2 hours from me.

Patriot is a fun course, very tight and technical, great track to work on body position/form.
I think it is a perfect course for a 1st trackday, it's where I poped my track cherry.
I will be running North for the 1st time in August with Nesba, will be there for the Full course on the 16th as well. Hopefully I can scrape up enough cash to run Patriot on the 17th too.

Pretty nervous about my first track day.

Not knowing what to expect and how the whole setup/procedure go is the most nerve-racking.

If you do choose to go on the 19th, then I'll go and we could meet up. I'll help you out with track prep, any other work you have to do on the bike, taping it up, etc.

just bring your bike topped off with gas and we'll do everything at the track.
