First Trackday

Hey guys,
Just had my first trackday last wednesday. Was looking for some criticism and advice on how to improve.

The track was wet when we first started but dried nicely throughout the day. There was one huge annoying puddle in the middle of turn 2 that refused to dry however.

The track is called Queensland Raceway and it is a very easy track with no surprises.

I scraped a peg during the second session and got pretty scared by that however realised that i simply need to get my body over more and the bike over less. Looking at the pics afterwards i can really get my body over a lot more and i need to get my knees lower to touch down. The hardest part was staying relaxed under braking especially after the straights from ~220kph.

Anyways take a look at the pics and any advice will be appreciated.
Am addicted already and will be going back in a month and then to another track (morgan park) in november.

I'm not as qualified as many of the track vets on this site but one thing I noticed is that it seems like your foot is too low on the peg. I was taught to put the ball of you foot on the peg and dig your heel into the heel guard. This will allow your toe to point out which in turn naturally helps your knee stick out further. Also, you want to try to slide a little more off the seat. One cheek on the seat is a good start. You have the right head position but you know what they say. Try to "kiss the mirror". Otherwise congrats on your first trackday. It's gonna be hard to break the addiction.

thanks mate good point. not a lot of room on those pegs with those massive boots but i hear what youre saying and it def. makes sense with pointing thru the turn.

Welcome new track addict!

your form is not too bad for your first time out. it looks decent in the 3rd pic. like mentioned above, tuck your foot up a bit more. Good job keeping your upper body low. hang your arse just a tad more off the seat. just keep at it and you'll be on the right track. Cheers mate
