need shock!

I've got a trackday coming up at RA and need a shock (aftermarket).
IF anyone is done for the season and want to sell theirs..pls let me know...thanks

What experience do you have track riding?

If not much, you don't need an aftermarket shock right now. I only mention to save yourself some money right now. OEM will take you further than you can imagine if you're fairly new (even if you have some experience). Buy/upgrade when you're over riding the OEM equipment.

At JenningsGP, I rode an OEM shock with 22k miles (7k track miles) into the 20's (1:20.66), and it was worn out.

Not trying to say you're inexperienced, or "look at me". Just in this day & time try to help folks save a little money, and spend it when you need it.

Work on making you faster (trackdays=seat time) before the bike.

umm...that shock is gonna let go.
get it serviced. I waited too long and my shock was the reason for my high side...along with the tire.

stock shock has fish oil in it...after heat cycles it breaks down.
If you're pushing yourself and running that pace..why take that risk ?
but your call.


to answer your question
I'm at 20k miles on stock OEM shock. 3 years and almost 2 season of trackdays.
stupid me that I waited this long to service it.

but a body slam to pavement shows you the light...

You have to ride knowing what was underneath you. Even worn out that bike had no issues (ones given to worry about). My fastest lap at JGP (1:20.66) it didn't flinch, and never did give me any "oh shi#" moments. Not to say it wouldn't never have, just that it didn't.

I upgraded about month and a half ago to a stock shock with only 1,200 miles. ..... until I get an Ohlins or Penske.

And for what it's worth..... can you say with 100% certainty it was your rear shock that caused the highside? Perhaps if there was some type of obvious shock failure. Most likely contributed? Yes.
