there are a couple a year that dont have the noise restrictions. but the prices for those days are even more insane then normal. it's not so hard to slap the stock slip on back on and change the map. hmm i did cut out my cat though, i wonder if that matters.

Totally bro... The prices are insane for those.. i factor in the hotel, gas, trackfee.. and its already a logistical pain.. but doable..
From what i've been reading anything louder than stock and they send you home.. they got a sound trap at certain areas that monitor the Db levels... not just at tech..

I've heard even some bikes with stock pipes get sent home too. Depending on the model I guess some are louder than others on older years

Yeah, I can't confirm it but I was talking to a guy my last trackday that told me the same thing as Flip. They have db levels around the track and even if it is stock, if you exceed the limit so many times you get sent home. Sucks for sure.

those same liberals that got decibel limits to become law; also run their 1/2 million dollar cars there. they point the exhaust out to the left so they never blow sound, but are breaking the limit all day long. ridiculous, huh?

for those that haven't ridden the track. these are about the best lines to take for a good pace & fun filled day @ a legendary track
enjoy

he mounts up around :34 secs

pretty sure the db is 92 or less. db dawg busters will quiet the tail pipe & it's not pointing directly @ sound booth, going up the hill as you exit t5.
like an r6. if you've gutted your intake & have an aftermarket air filter bmc/k&n/whatever, it could make too much noise. there are again methods of getting this quieter just in case you get black flagged. if you have db dawg decibel killers then it's likely the intake bringing the black flag. r6s are notorious for getting side lined as both their intake & exhaust make too much noise. stock intake w/stock filter............crazy & an aftermarket pipe
w/out a plug. last but not least, go up a gear higher up the hill so it's not as loud. course, you'll lose a bit of momentum going up the hill, but @ least you won't get black flagged again. pretty sure you only get two chances to black flag w/most every trackday provider @ that track. it's policy, i believe
might want to call laguna to confirm.

you won't blow sound for sure. it's 92 db for motorcycle days

if one does blow sound & they don't have the insert that came w/their pipe, which typically works too. i've also seen soda/beer cans safety wired around the exit point of pipe multiple times, w/smallish hole or multiple even smaller holes. in them. it quiets the exhaust to reasonable/allowable limits, (& is the least expensive method w/out insert that came w/aftermarket pipe) but you still need to be careful cause some times these will also blow off the tip then the next lap around you'll pop on sound if you haven't noticed. that'd be number two & your sitting on the sidelines the rest of the day unless you bring another bike to ride that won't blow sound. period. trackday providers try & be flexible, but once a certain bike has made the offense twice it is off the track for the duration of the day, regardless whether you quiet the bike down or not.

infineon aka sears point is a lot more challenging than laguna, has no sound limitations & just north of the city. it's my favorite track on the west coast & i've ridden most of them
but it's not the famed 'laguna seca' that has so much history. sears does also have a long following w/motor-sports.
peeps can stay in navato w/fairly reasonable room rates & be @ the track w/in 15 to 20 minutes.
wherever you guys go, i'll try & get there too, merely sharing another idea. due to all the concern regarding the db limitations @ seca.

w/the riders that have gutted their intake.......
there are a number of porous sponge like materials @ various hardware stores that can be placed right in the opening of our intake, that will quiet it down @ least a little. matter of fact, it might be something you want to add to your bike regardless. i've seen this material on more than a few ama bikes/wss/wsbk etc.
reason being is if you aren't careful you can suck too much dirt & debris past the aftermarket filters. if you're really not careful & allow your filter to get really dirty, allowing dirt to get into your system. it will many times blow the motor. if you're really concerned, just put in OEM paper filter cause they are quieter & more efficient w/keeping debris from passing into the airbox.

googled soda can on exhaust tip & was unable to find any images, but there are some out there, cause i've seen them on the net

hope this helps

Quoted from Keigwins at the Track website;

Sound Monitoring

Laguna Seca and Infineon have noise restrictions.

Laguna (92dB): Stock exhausts are required. No exceptions! Aftermarket pipes are not allowed at Laguna -- they are sticklers about this now! The onus to pass the sound testing every lap is on the rider! Every bike needs a two or three digit number (on the front and right side) six inches tall. Pick one at random; we'll deal with any duplications at the track. Duct tape is fine. You can do this in advance or at the track.
