First track day in over 2 years!

finally getting back to the track. this will be my first since road atlanta in 2009! the bike getting stolen kept me from being able to go last season. still making some repairs from the recovery but just ordered some tires, oil, 520 kit, brake pads, keyless gas cap, and working on installing a switch for the ignition. if i have time i'm going to repaint the track plastics, they're looking pretty rough right now, but that doesn't even matter. i'm just excited to get out there again

I gotcha, well post lots of pics. I'm going to Thunder Hill in August, it'll be my 1st td since February. That feels like forever ago. But I wanted to finish paying the bike off so I held off. Just sent my last payment today.

right on!!!! argh argh gal,

it's really easy to make a keyless ignition for bikes. just look @ ignition tumblers & where everything grounds out for bike to start & you've got a live track weapon to exploit.

only downfall is; now anyone can start your bike, if it's got a battery installed

might be worth your time to wire it so kickstand up makes bike stop in second gear or something appropriate. only unless you've initiated push button so it won't go to sleep

pretty easy loop to enhance potential for bike being ridden away via theft.

w/proper garage; probably doesn't matter........

looking forward to seeing 'on track' captures of your return

congrats! glad to hear youre finally going back out there again.
goodluck to you and hope you have a good time out there.

since its been awhile, you should write down all you need to bring.
and check off each item as you pack them or put them in your vehicle so you wont forget anything.

theres a really good checklist in this thread that you could print out.

That Lebanese was scary!! I thought she was gonna make me her play toy. I thought crashing at Road Atlanta was a hell of a ride. I am fairly certain I would have needed my helmet for shenanigans she was going to pull. Was a fun time though.

Good luck on all the track prep and have a blast out there. It might take a couple of laps to get familiar again but it'll all come back to you. (track withdrawal is a beotch! lol ).

July 26th? Are you doing them with Tonystrackdays?

I haven't gone to the track since last October and have to wait till early September. If you end up doing some of Tony's days in Sept/Oct let me know. It'd be cool to meet another fellow dotNET-er... lol

Since this is the first time back to the track for you make sure you take advantage of the classroom sessions. If you're having any issues or trouble with some corners, grab a control rider and have them follow you around for a few laps. Any one of the Tony's staff will help you out, they are good peoples.

I haven't done any Boston Moto days but last year a lot of them showed up to one of Tony's events. From riding with some of them I get the sense that those guys have the mentality that since it's a race track they are all racing. Not saying they are bad but have different passing rules so be aware of that. TTD does not allow inside passing (for safety reasons), I think BoMo does.

I have summer classes till August 5th, then in August it's Ramadan. Don't think I'll have the energy or enough hydration to ride the bike since I'll be fasting. So September it is for me. Would of gone in June but had bike issues (rock hit my radiator causing a minor/annoying coolant leak). Bike is fixed and have been riding it everywhere. I've put on 6-8 miles on the car in the last three weeks compared to 1,400+ on the bike since we've had great weather.

BTW Join Bandofriders.net There are plenty of people that go to the track from there (NHMS and NJMP) and responsible riders.

IMO Fall is the best time to ride a bike in New England. Especially the track, not too hot for wearing leathers but still warm enough to get your tires warmed up in two laps.

If you definitely end up doing any of TTD dates in Sept/Oct PM since I'll most likely be there.

There is usually a ride every Tuesday night starting in Middletown and plenty of rides popping up on the weekend in various areas of the state. If you ever want to set up something specific with just a few people let me know, I'm usually always down as long as I don't have essay's or tests coming up.

In fact, I'm about to take a quick nap and head out for tonight's ride should be a decent 150-200 miles depending on how many people show up.

It's been years since I rode a few track days with NESBA, so I'm not to familiar with what they do anymore. I will say this, STT Novice group gets classroom instruction before all or your morning sessions (3) and one more classroom before the fourth session of the day, then you are free to just ride. If you still want some help or advice or personal time with one of the instructors, you can have it all day long, every session, right up to the end of the day. The faster, more experienced riders in Novice are put into a "Advanced Novice group" and only do a couple of classroom sessions and then are free to ride within the Novice group. Of course, there are Instructors out on the track with every session and you can always ask for help at anytime during the day and someone will assist you with lines, body position, braking and brake markers, throttle control.........you name it. At the end of the day, there is nothing that gives us more satisfaction than to see a rider that we've worked with that day, come in with a big smile on their face and know that they are "getting it" and making improvement in their riding skills. Glad to know that you are back out there on the track.
