California Speedway question.

I've never been to a track before, the closest to me would be California Speedway in Fontana (SB?)
Can anyone enlighten me about this place?
Gear requirements?
Bike prep requirements?
Lodging?
Family atmosphere (spectators)?

This is a great track! Smooth, safe, and challenging. The group who mainly runs track days there is Fastrack Riders (check out www.fastrackriders.com). The track days are pretty expensive ($249), but the atmosphere makes up for it. Fastrack Riders runs a smooth operation that gives you max track time. Check out there site for more info.

If you get there early enough, you can get a paddock, plenty of space. I don't know about gearing yet but in general, there's a really long, banked straight that goes into turn 1. People go 150+ mph on the straight. There's another straight after turn 9 that people hit 120+ mph. Big open track, very fast. If you've ever been to Streets of Willow, it's a lot bigger and more high speed than that, a little less technical.

Bike prep is the usual: taped up mirrors, blinkers. You don't need to replace your coolant.

Lodging: If you're still in Inland Empire, it's right next door to you. I take the 210 East all the way to Cherry Ave, exit and make a right. Track is on your right side.

Family Atmosphere: pretty cool. A lot of people bring their kids. The kids just hang out in the paddocks. There's plenty of stands too, the grand stands in front of the banked straight, and then near turn 9, that's a really good one where people can take pics through the fence. Next one coming up is the weekend of August 20 and 21. Have fun if you go, that's my favorite track and I'll be there the 21st on Sunday.
