Trackday after Bike Week?

Who'd be interested in doing JenningsGP Monday & Tuesday March 13/14, 2006? That's the weekend after the races at Daytona. I've already got the track reserved and am working out a few other details. Who'd be in?

I'm a 50/50 on that one. I'd like to get back there to redeem myself after my last poor performance.

weak responses here people - come on, has to be more than 2 people interested. You have a sportbike, it belongs on the track. March is a really nice month to be in Florida instead of shoveling snow.

Just so we're all clear from the start - the ONLY way to hold a spot is to prepay. Once I open this up on the RC51 website the spots will go quickly but I'm not opening it up to them until after October 25th.

I'm betting it would be close to perfect down at Jennings in March. Probably the best time to go! I'm def. looking into it.

Hey Luis - here's what I'll do so it's easier for everyone. I will accept deposits to hold the spot (minimum $100 deposit per rider), wasn't going to originally but look like that's best for everyone.

Each person should PM or email me ( [email protected] ) to arrange details. You can send a check or I can take a charge card. I'll update the riders list to show payment status. That way your spot will be held.

Just so everyone knows also - this trackday will be opened to all interested riders by the end of the month. It's not specifically tied to 600RR's or 1000RR's, all bikes are welcome. We're promoting everywhere we have ties so don't delay - get in early.

Kev that would work out for myself and my track junkie peeps. I know it's easier for them to get in a deposit and then pay up the balance. Sweet PM wher you want the check to go, I'll need a spot in the fast group for me and one in the other group for my daughter.

Thanks!

We're starting to get responses and a few emails with questions. It'd be great to see a strong 600RR showing. I'm trying to entice a few clebrity style people you might know to come hang out with us a bit on their way home from BikeWeek - not having much luck with it but still trying.

Doesn't look like a lot of people signing up. I'd love to do it, but I've never run on a track before. What equipment do I need to have? Are there people to help with safety wiring, suspension set-up, etc.? (The more time I spend down here in FL, the more I want to go back to ME and get my bike!!!) This might give me enough of a reason to make a roadtrip!!

in general for a trackday you need a helmet with no scratches or dents that go below the paint, one piece or 2-piece zip-together leathers, gloves that cover the wrists, motorcycle specific boots that go up over the ankles

headlight lenses taped and fuse removed (to turn off lights so they don't melt the tape to the lenses), remove mirrors, turn signals, and license plate
and of course bike needs to be clean and in good working order with all bodyworks secured and double check torque on anything you don't safety wire (brakes, etc) and frame sliders are important

I don't know the specifics of this event but basic safety wiring is important (oil drain plug, oil fill cap and oil filter), and its hard to do at the track because of the drilling of holes in bolts. The oil drain bolt for example is hard to do on some bikes on the bike and of course when you take it off oil comes pouring out.
if you come though I'll be glad to help you if you've already got the holes drilled
btw theres another more current thread about this td
