FUSA gonzo? CCS run properly? OMG!

For those who haven't heard the latest rumor :

http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/...?article=24615

I can tell you CCS needs this badly. The man at the top needs to be a racer and someone who cares about advancing the sport of roadracing in America. I've been calling for Henry DeGouw to do that for a while, but Kevin Elliott should do a good job also.

CCS racers, should this go down be sure to let him know your feelings about the direction of roadracing. Personally, I believe bigger purses and contingency are necessary to increase grid size and competition and in turn increase spectator attendence as well as revenue. In the early 90's you could see CCS and WERA races on TV... can you imagine? The grids used to be 20-30 on average in MWSS, now your lucky to get 12-15 at most events. The one event I did in the past two years I went 1-3-3-5 in expert races, won Honda money and contingency and was upside down $200... that shouldn't happen. Losing FUSA will suck, but they're planning on doing something similar... maybe this will increase the competition at regional events as those riders search for events.

For those of you out there who don't race, try going to some spectator events and supporting the sport when you can. Maybe you'll even get the bug and want to try it yourself.

yeah they hold the F-USA races at NHIS each year and combine it with the LRRS races for a 3 day weekend. It is a shame to see this happening

I wonder what this will do to the endurance race that F-USA ran at there events. I enjoyed doing the one at the VIR event. I hope they plan on keeping that inplace with the new plans.

That is interesting to hear about the grid sizes in CCS. CMRA races are huge down here. Last season at Texas World Speedway there were 22 experts in SSB and 36 novice. I hope everything gets worked out and I'm sure it will, it's hard to stop a family of people that love to race.
