The Ducati Marlboro riders took the top two spots on the board at the Sepang Test´s second day. Sete Gibernau and Loris Capirossi earned the fastest times of the session. The Spanish rider, with a recorded 2'01.66, knocked half a second off Valentino Rossi´s first day time, and was faster than the pole position earned by Capirossi last year. The Italian rider also managed to break the 2'02 barrier.
Valentino Rossi dropped to ninth place, although overall he sits in fifth. The Italian later gave his assessment of the day, focusing as much on the performance of other riders as his own.
“It doesn´t surprise me that Ducati have gone so well today. Sete is very strong, which is hardly a shock. This is a sign that the bike works well and that Ducati are doing a great job” added the Camel Yamaha rider.

The kid is one to watch this year. Rossi might need a rear view mirror to keep tabs on Hayden and Sete

Still doesnt mean anything. Sete won the BMW award last year for setting the fastest laps, but look at his season. Sete is an amazing rider, but I think his emotions get the best of him when he is racing head to head.

Good Progress on Day Two For The Repsol Honda Team
24 January 2006 - Repsol Honda

The second day of pre-season testing at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia saw Repsol Honda riders Nicky Hayden and Dani Pedrosa making solid progress ahead of their 2006 MotoGP campaign. The focus of the day was not outright lap times yet both riders made useful improvements from yesterday.

Hayden (24) continued to lead the development of the 2006 factory RC211V, concentrating today on fine adjustments to the chassis of his Repsol Honda to improve stability into corners.

New signing Dani Pedrosa (20) spent the day tuning his riding position and suspension settings as he became more familiar with the MotoGP machine. When the rain came down at 4pm and the rest of the pitlane rushed for shelter, Pedrosa took the opportunity to gain experience of riding the Repsol Honda in wet conditions, riding alone on the track for 25 minutes.

Tomorrow is the final day of the test before the team heads to another three-day session at the Phillip Island circuit in Australia next week. They’ll return to Sepang for another test from February 14-16.

Nicky Hayden 2m 02.02s. Laps completed: 65
“It’s been a pretty positive day. My outright speed wasn’t really much better than yesterday but I was a lot more consistent today and my feeling on the bike was better. We’ve been trying some different options on the chassis geometry to try and make the bike more stable under braking. And then we got into testing some Michelin tyre compounds, but rain cut us short. It’s been awesome working with my new data-logging guy Ramon [Aurin] and he’s been a big help for me. We’ve got a lot of guys in here working hard and everyone’s behind me - we’ll just keep chipping away.”

Dani Pedrosa (Dry) 2m 02.26s. Laps completed: 47 / (Wet) 2m19.07s. Laps completed: 11
“We are not making big changes to the bike. Today we re-tested all the things that we improved yesterday so that I get a good idea about how the Honda works and have a clear idea of what will happen when I push the bike. I feel tired, but less tired than yesterday so I am happy with this. Tomorrow if we have time we may try a race distance. In the wet the RC211V feels very different to the 250cc bike. The tyres are bigger and have more edge grip, but on the exit of corners it slides more. I need some more experience and I hope to have another rainy day before the season starts.”

Makoto Tanaka – Repsol Honda Team Manager
“We are happy with the testing today. Nicky tried some new items and made useful progress with the bike and lap times. Dani is also improving step by step and reducing his lap times. We lost some time to the rain today but we are looking forward to tomorrow.”

Couple of things :

First, Sete is doomed for two reasons : 1) He got on Rossi's bad side and really pissed him off and 2) His girlfriend is just too hot. That's right, too hot. He can't possibly focus on a MotoGP level with that hangin' around the pits :)

Second, and more important, is the fact that Dani Pedrosa was 5th fastest ?!?! OMG, please tell me that was a fluke... if I have to endure another season with that freaky circus midget out front I'm going to snap. Maybe Nicky can reach deep within to his southern roots and give him some NASCAR style rubbin'...

That's just so wrong, as a small person I take offense to that comment. He's an extremely talented young rider and is doing fantastically well considering his size and the fact that it's his first season on a MotoGP monster.

I think Sete is the one who's pissed. After the season he had last year, I dont think Rossi gives a sh!t anymore, he's just out there having fun. Sete's girl is also NOT HOT! She looks like a cracked out dude.

Sete is a crybaby, but I still kinda like the guy.

Ok, I guess I should clarify... small, *whiny bitch*. Stoner is hard core, he has some Schwantz in him. I guess the hole Elias v. Pedrosa drama in '04 left a bad taste in my mouth as I thought Elias was a far better rider, but he had no chance due to HP AND weight.

Moreover, it was a JOKE. If you take offense that's ridiculous. I would trade race weights with Pedrosa right now if I could... maybe I'm just jealous :)

Nah! I don't really take offense to being called small or short or whatever, I just wanted to rattle your cage a bit :eviltongu! I actually enjoy being my size (5ft4), I never bang my head on anything my taller friends do and tall girls are forever shoving boobies in my face as they walk past me in nightclubs and bars! Gotta love that!
