02/15 Tsukuba Breakin report

Dang Tsukuba is a busy place!!! Don't any of these bums ever have to work?!?!?!
: P

I could only manage to pre-book 1 session at Tsukuba on Wednesday and that was freakin' early in the AM. I was figuring I could hang around a bit and see if anyone crashes out and would have any A or B sessions up for grabs later in the day.

When I first got there I kept seeing all these make-shift signs in front of dudes' pits with the letters A and/or B on them. Since I couldn't read kanji I automatically assumed that there were a bunch of dudes trying to sell their sessions... errr... wrong! Shima-chan (my wife/manager) informed me that those were all dudes who wanted to BUY more sessions!!!

So no extra sessions for me that day. Sucked too because the weather was beautiful and I really thought that I would have had the track to myself being the middle of the week and all.

So I head out and have to keep the bike under 12k RPM this time. Much better than the 8-10 range I was working with prior. I know it was a beautiful day, and most of you dudes were stuck in the office so I should be glad I was at the track and on a bike at all... but I was hating it! The bike felt like it was just really getting going around 12K and I had to shut it down. I did test a little bit of the higher revs on a few laps while running down the back straight and it really pulls hard! WooHoo!

Otherwise I was dealing with an old worn out front tire (isn't that how I fell the last time? ) and not trying to maintain much corner speed. The entire time I've got these crappy naked GSX1300s or something revving their engine behind me in the corner like I was messing up their track day or something! It was EXTREMELY difficult to maintain composure and continue around the track timidly on the worn front tire. When I got back to the pits I wanted to just get on the P.A. system and explain to everyone that, "I'm not normally that slow. I was just finishing an engine break-in on a worn out front tire. Really!". Oh the shame...
: (

Anyway, I'm all done with the break-in now and I'm looking forward to Motegi on 02/25. I'll finally be able to actually open it up and see what all that money bought me!

Just venting, sorry guys...

haha, I can imagine all those guys behind you wondering who you were and what you were thinking staying under 12k

With my new leathers, boots, and gloves on they were probably wondering what the heck this poser was doing on the track with them.
