Tennessee trackdays

Just moved to Nashville area and looking for trackdays. Sounds like nashville super speedway is closed? The next closest that I'm finding is barber and road Atlanta, am I missing anything? What are the best and preferred trackday organizers? Thanks in advance.

Depends on how far you are willing to travel. VIR, NCBIKE, CMP, Summit Point, Road Atlanta, NCM, Barber, Talladega and Dominion Raceway(scheduled to open this summer) are within a reasonable distance of TN.

Track day providers that run at these tracks are N2, Team Promotion, Sportbike Track Time, Performance Riding Experience(PRE), Evolve GT, and Motorcycle Excitement.

Wow you and I differ greatly on reasonable distances. I just moved from VA earlier this month and am not willing to do 20-22 hours round trip of driving for an 8 hour day at mediocre tracks like ncbike, and VIR. Wish Shenandoah was closer though... was not tracking NCM so thanks for that one!

Like I said it all depends on how far you're willing to travel. I currently live in NC and the farthest I've had to drive one way was 7.5 hours to Barber/Jennings.

Secondly you and I differ greatly on what a mediocre track is. You're the first person I've ever heard say that VIR is mediocre. VIR is one of the best tracks I've ever ridden and is definitely in my top 5. To each their own I guess.

Yeah it wasn't the lay out it was the pavement. Just did some research though and looks like they repaved since I was last there in 2012 or so, asphalt looks nice now. Might have to take a long weekend out there and reassess.

If you are in Nashville, you are an hour or so from one of the best tracks around........NCM. The track has everything.....incredible grip (without excessive tire wear), long front straight, a couple of pretty slow corners, a couple of high speed right hand sweepers (120 mph with a knee down), elevation changes, a blind corner or two, and T12, also known as "Deception". The track is highly technical in places, and "pin it to win it" in others. As far as track day organizations, I guess you could say that I'm a bit partial to Sportbike Track Time.......as my wife and I are both Instructors with them. We have three events booked there for 2016...May, July, and September. Check out the STT website for details.

If that question is directed at me, you can purchase track days for STT events at..... www.Sportbiketracktime.com. There is a wealth of information on the site about how to prep your bike, rider's equipment requirements and basic rules for each group.... Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced. If you have never ridden with us, you will start in the novice group. We have both classroom instruction and on the track instruction, all included in the cost of the day. STT is well known for having the best Novice Instruction program in the track day world. As a heads up, many/most of our events do sell out though, so plan accordingly. Shoot me a PM if you have questions after looking at the STT site.

I liked my days spent at little taledega in Munford,Al. Cheap track time. The track is pretty basic, but plenty of fun to be had.

Moving to Nashville this weekend. Track days are out of my budget, but I'm curious if spectators are allowed. Does it cost just to come in and watch?

The track that I used to ride at was $10 admission I believe. You'd be hanging out around the pit area where all the riders bikes were parked of you could go out to the fence near the track IIRC.

Most all of Sportbike Track Time's events are free to enter and watch. We will be at NCM (Bowling Green, KY) on Sat.and Sun, September 17th and 18th, 2016. Gates usually open around 7am and the first session of the day (Intermediate) starts at 9am. The action continues until 5pm both days, with an hour off for lunch from noon till 1pm. Maybe we'll see you out there.

We do a couple of private days at little tally every year and love the place!

NCM is close fopr you in Nasheville, and totally worth the trip.

Something I forgot to mention also. You are free to sit in on the Novice classroom session(s) if you'd like. You can gain a lot of "track knowledge" and track etiquette in the classroom. If you decide to do this, come find me and I'll talk to our Novice Lead Instructor and let him know that you will be sitting in. PM me ahead of time and we can work something out on how to find each other.

And just in case any of you that watch this video, and hear all of the tire squealing and motors in the background, the NCM facility has a huge skidpad area across the paddock where they run cars, go carts, and such.

Nice......When my wife Peggy and I were at NCM last year, for the May STT event, she wasn't working Sunday and our paddock area was a couple places down from a guy with a Corvette who was there for the skidpad event. We had been talking with him over the two days that we were there and when he saw her not dressed in her leathers and working, he asked her if she wanted to go with him for a run on the S.P. She grabbed her helmet and he helped her in the car and off they went. She ended up doing three runs with him in the Vette and she came back smiling from ear to ear. She commented that just to watch it, it seemed kind of easy to do, but once in the car, she said that it was pretty intense for the driver. One section, they got up to almost 80 mph and then hard on the brakes to make it around one of the turns.
