Yep I want to probably install traxxion dynamics AK20 carts and do the Penske triple clicker in the rear. I just ordered a set of forks and triples. Found a good price on eBay. Made a lowball offer and one counteroffer later, I feel good about the purchase. Need to scoop up calipers. I'll do an accosato or brembo master and braided lines. I'm not too worried about the engine now. If it runs right, it runs right. If not, I'll address that situation after I know further. I'll keep on with the rolling chassis while I wait.

It looks like I won't be able to mount my Scott's damper on the 07 top triple though. I don't see a mount kit on their site. I know the 07's came with a factory steering damper. You guys running any aftermarket dampers?

Just got off the phone with scotts. They sent me an email with info on a custom mount kit, or I can send my top triple in and they can fab something up for me. I'll check it out and go from there.

um i dont think 05-06 are inverted.. youre thinking about 03-04.. 06 has all the same carthages except the 30mm ohlins. the only reason i went to 07+ is to fit my red and white wheels and i already had ohlins fork from my 09. other than that its a pricey swap for oem forks and everything its well over 1k. basically 500 for forks 300 for wheel around 200 for triples about 200 for clipons with the levers and mechanics on them and so on i thought it was a cheaper but then you realize you need small **** to make it all work and ends up adding up. thats why i decided to sell mine as the whole set.

03-04 are convential forks, the 05+ are inverted (upside down) forks.

Yeah that's all we had until the early 90's in moto-x was conventional. The inverted design was a game changer.

Seksas, what damper do you have? There's no mount kit for a Scott's.

I have scotts. What do u mean they dont have a mounting kit? Theyre one of the most popular dampers along with the gpr. Thats pretty much the only 2 that are available well besides hyperflow or ohlins but ohlins and scotts are the same. Unless youre talking about the old scotts/ohlins the one that mounts to the forks those are rare.

You have a Scott's mounted on an 07 top triple?

In other news, I HAVE A PRIMING FUEL PUMP! That's a win for sure. Waiting on the new tank and pair block offs to put it back together.

That is outstanding news!!!! Does the block off plates you ordered come with all hardware? If not, you may want to go get some shorter bolts, as my PSR plates did not come with hardware, other than lock washers.

I think the hardware was included. That'll be annoying if not. Block offs should come tomorrow but it looks like I won't see the gas tank until Saturday.

Ok so i went into the garage to put the scotts on the 07 to make sure everything fits and theres a lil problem but not that big. Its seems like youre a mechanical guy so u should be good. All you have to do is shave 2-3mm of the threads that the top nut sits on, or raise the whole mounting base and raise the lil knob (the thing that goes into the scotts dampers arm thingy) a couple mms. or u can just throw a couple of washers under the mount on the frame not that big of a deal.

Nice. Thanks Seksas. When the parts get here I'll see what it looks like. I have all the 03-04 hardware for my Scott's so hopefully I can get something mounted up.

PAIR block-offs arrived:

i used rtv but hondabond should be good as well.

that service manual is amazing. as for scotts im not sure if the 03 and 06 have similar triples or how the 07 will sit in the 03 frame, but you should be good. im pretty sure all there is is the height difference. for some reason with the 07 triples the stem sticks out further so it prevents the damper from mounting flush with the base. so its either raising the base on the triple head or shaving the stem a few mms and then playing with the lil knob height. either way youll figure something out. i know wibbly had his scotts damper mounted on his 07+ and ive seen other 07+ with scotts but now when u pointed it out i cant find any for new gen cbrs.. weird.

Honestly I'd love a clean aftermarket set of triples just for cleanliness sakes, especially since I don't have an ignition. I'll play around with what I have when it gets here and see what I can come up with.

Other than the obvious change in fork diameter, the 03 and 05 upper triples do differ slightly. There is a notch in the 03 that is not on the 05 that affects the mounts for a Scott's. 03-04 Scott's mounts do not fit 05-06 upper triple.

And +10000 to the factory service manual. I also have a clymers because the color coded wiring diagrams are worth their weight in gold.

I mounted my PAIR block offs. And then put most of my air box back on. Waiting on a new filter so the very top is still loose. The only thing stopping me from starting this thing is the tank. Tracking moved the delivery back a few more days which bums me out but it is what it is. When it gets here, it gets here.

The wiring is not done, but I want to hear the bike run and monitor temps and gauges before I tape it up. There are several unused pig tails that I'll tape up. And just clean it up 'track bike style'.

I have many parts on the way so I'll keep updating as they trickle in. Lots of OEM fasteners too. That's the biggest PITA, cause as soon as I make an order I find another missing bolt. Lol

Some more items showed up yesterday afternoon and even more this morning. I also woke up to about 4 inches of fresh snow on the ground because I chose to live in a place with stupid weather. Lol.

Pile O' miscellaneous OEM hardware. Stuff to mount meter to stay and fan to rad, gas tank bolts, etc.

New K&N filter

A pair of clean '12 calipers for my new front end

Oh, and a large box also came.

And I'm at a dilemma. I found a deal for a set of very low mileage wheels complete with rotors and spacers and sprocket carrier for a grand. Boom done. I also have a line on a front wheel complete for 300, but that guy hasn't returned my message yet. I want the set for 1k, but that 700$ leftover could certainly go towards suspension. Not sure what to do, any opinions are welcome.

Not sure what to do, any opinions are welcome.
first you gotta decide which year suspension your getting. for 1k+ you can buy 2013 style wheels. i wouldnt spend more than 6-700 for 07-12 wheels.

It will have 07-12 forks. The 13 wheels mount up to the 07 forks and all the swingarms, right?

yup the rear hasnt changed since 03 and the front as long as your running everything from the 07+ its a direct swap.

Your bike is why I want the 13 wheels. I may just snatch this set up for a grand. That just means it will take me a little bit longer to upgrade suspension.

Just to confirm i wasnt bsing you or myself i fitted the damper. Used two lil spaceres to lift the bracket that mounts to the frame and a sigle washer to lift the lil rod. Shaved around 2-3mm of the steering stem so the stabilizer could sit flush. Becareful when u buy used brackets. There this little screws the screw into the bracket to attach to the steering stem nut and 4 of mine were stuck, striped the heads off had to drill them out. But no worries i had bought replacement screws just to be safe.
