Akra Question

Well, I have a 09 and I am pretty set on a Akra exhaust. look nice and I hear the quality is the best. Now i just read Sport Rider and they were saying how the newer bikes are limiting power due to strict emmisions laws, and now a days a slip on won't make big gains, due to the restricted headers. I've read how headers on a street bike is like driving a Ferrari in a school zone, but something about full system makes me tingle. So If I order the full system, do i need a PCV? or will the stock PCM ( car talk) compensate for the slight air change? If I need a PCV, is it possible to just put the canister part of the full system for the time being til i get a PCV ( which will be within the few weeks of owning the exhaust system)I just wanna have it for this east coast meet we are having so im not stock .

or.... how would the arrow headers compare to the Akra headers. and how come you can't buy Akra headers seperate?

Lol. Slip ons NEVER gave big gains. So good luck with that one.

well i know that. but like i'm set on getting a full system. question is do i need a PCV if i get a full system, and if i do, can i just put the canister part of the system til i get a PCV, which will only be a couple weeks after. I just want the noise for a upcoming meet, bascially.

You can run a full system without a PCV, but it won't run as well as stock. The stock PCM will not compensate for the added air. You should consider an air filter with more flow when you get the PCV and the akra.

As for the canister only option, I am not sure if that will work or not. I believe the akra midpipe is bigger than stock, so my best guess is no. But, that is just speculation.

powermoose, you are correct. after searching ( basically flipping through pages) because our search options has 3 word maximum. and looking at the schematics of the exhaust, i see how the mid pipe goes from canister to header, no break in between. I will prolly go ahead with the full system, wait a week or 2 then order the PCV with auto tune and BMC air filter. I'm just impatient.

PCM is what my car uses. It's the stock computer. Personal Computer Module. The PCV stands for Power Commander 5 ( V stands for the roman numeral 5 )

I talked to a power commander tuner today and he stated that running a full system w/o a PCV is okay for a short period.

The arrow headers are very good from what I have read here on the .net. I do believe that Akra does not sell seperate parts for money reasons. Get the Arrow headers for $400 and change from MonkeyWorks or Cyclesector and get the Slipon for around $600 and you saved yourself several hundred over the full Ti EVO Akra. Remember that the Arrow is SS and not Ti.

And if I were you I would look into getting the Bazzaz setup vs the PCV....

I wish I could sell my $1100 worth of dynojet stuff from my bike and go to the bazzaz system but then I'd have to rip my bike apart to get the dynojet stuff off :/
