Red face Quick question about slip-ons and full exhausts.

I found an FMF slip on for really cheap but I've been wanting to buy a full system. My question is, what is the difference between the canister on a full system vs a slip on. What I'm hopeing to do is buy the slip on, then buy the aftermarket headers so Ill actually have the full system.

Well never really heard about anyone with an FMF on their 600RR so don't really know what to tell ya on if thats a good way to go.
It's kinda up to you :)

The cansiters on s/o's and full systems are the same.
Most companies make both s/o's and full systems but just be careful and ask questions about fitment.
Arrow headers will go onto pretty much every s/o but akra headers only go onto akra full system midpipes.

There is alot of us on here that are willing to help each other out, just ask the right questions and you will get some good answers :)

That helps me alot, my main concern was if the canister on the full system and s/o is the same. Im not to sure about the whole FMF thing on a street bike, used to putting them on my dirtbikes :)

Yeah have heard lots of good things about them in the dirt... but really nothing in my travels of the street world... atleast not with our bikes.
I'd stick with the main players in the exhaust world because then you know they will marry up with the headers.
in no particular order:
Arata
Arrow
Akrapovic
Jardine
Two brothers
D & D
KN tuned
Leo Vince

sure there's others I'm just having a bit of a brain fart lol

Okay here's another question (pretty sure I know the answer to it). My bike is an 04, if I buy a 05-06 s/o I need the 05-06 headers in order to have a proper install. Correct?

I thought FMF only made Motocross exhausts, you have a link to the one you found? I'm interested in peeking at it

nice! but the only video I saw was an '09 RR and a guy asked him where to get it he said:

"it's a prototype pipe so it differs from what the production one will be. "
