Exhaust springs

I just bought an exhaust off eBay which arrived with no springs.

It was not listed as coming with the springs and i though there should not be a problem as there are several people selling them on e-bay.

I need to work out the correct spring length i need to fit the can i have bought.

Is there a particular way of working this out?
What sort of fit between the can/link link pipe should i be looking for with the springs installed?

Ive tried the manufacturer directly but am not having much luck on that route.

All I know is that if the springs you use feel as if they are too short and they are a hella puta to put on, then you've got the correct springs. If the springs go on easy (without a pair of pliers, 20 minutes per spring, lots of swearing and stuff) and you manage to not bleed from one of your extremities then you've used springs that are too long.

No, I lost my spring hook and flat-headed industrial-size pliers didn't make the task any easier, ha ha ha. I was hoping the OP would catch my sarcasm in that post and get the point that if they go on with just your fingers they're too long, ha ha.
