Smile I just discovered an Akropovic Evolution Hex Full Exhaust system under my bike!

Alright so today I got all the plastics off to start preparing my bike for the track (changing the oil, coolant etc.). Keep in mind I bought this bike this summer and still have many things to learn and discover about it. It's an 05'.

I take a close look at the headers and notice that the previous owner had installed an Akrapovic Evolution Hex Full Exhaust System! I take a look online to find the same one and apparently they're worth close to $2,000. Bonus!

So wait, what does this mean? My friend asks me to take the seat off and look for a Power Commander (which I have very little knowledge about) and we don't see one beside the battery.

I'm now sitting here reading some threads and I gather that installing a full system will do very little for a bike unless you tune it?

Can anyone help explain to me what I have here?

Ok, so what your saying is your headers are are an AKRA EVO and your muffler itself is a also an AKRA? You just realized you have a full system. If you don't have a PC3 Iwould advise you to get one. Even if you don't get it custom tuned go to the dynojet/powercommander website and download the map suited for it. It should be easy to find. That way your Air/Fuel ratio will be much better. Throttle response will be more on point and rid of flat/dead spots in your powerband. But if you can get it tuned specifically.

Don't even worry about tuning it. Just give it to me and i will give you my stock exhaust and your worries will be gone. hahaaa

I was just about to ask if it could be anywhere else. I'll remove the rear and see if its there. I would certaintly hope so. I keep reading threads with idiots who spend 2k on a full system to "sound better" and skip out on the PC3. I will definitely invest in one if it isn't there.

When that happens in the morning you just know you're going to have a good day!

Should it be under the rear plastic? If I take off the seat I shouldn't be able to see it, right? I saw a picture where it was installed kind of on the side, under where the 600RR sticker would be..

Who knows where they could have put the pcIII man.

I'd just pull the tank up to see if there are piggy backed cables going into the lower injectors and then you will know where to follow the wires to if you do have a pcIII on board :)

Yea dude, just pop your rear seat/cowl off and it should be laying off to the side. You'll see the harness under the bracket mainstay. If you haven't noticed bad performance, you may have one!

I had an EX500 Ninja for two years and learned very little about it. I spent those two years focussing on how to ride the damn thing let alone performance mods.

Since I bought this bike I've gained more interest in learning everything about what I'm riding. The guy I bought it from (2nd owner) had it for a few months and sold it because he couldn't afford it. He told me literally nothing about the bike.

So yes, I do have a lot to learn, hense the first sentence in this thread. Every day I see/fix something on the bike, do some research and learn something new.

If I poop tomorrow morning and the paper is still clean, I'll bet my money there will be a PC3 under the rear cowl lol

It shouldn't be hard to find. If you havn't found it by now I'm guessing you don't have one. If you really wanna make sure take off the tank cover. Undo the 2 bolts holding the tank. Flip the tank back and look for the unit.

That will be my next step. It's such a shame to see someone invest that much money and not do it properly.

Agreed. Especially someone who is well enough informed to buy a fantastic system but somehow misses the memo on a pc.

clearly I'm going to research and invest in a pc. I'm already $2,000 closer to better performance! It would be senseless not to!

Yeah, my point exactly!

This guy knows very little about bikes, but yet he can identify an aftermarket header system???????????

First off.

#1 Most aftermarket headers are not "stamped" with a brand name logo on it. It's hard for riders with experience to identify "what kind it is" unless he physically takes each header pipe off, including the mid-pipe and then compare it to the specs of the aftermarket header. Let's also not forget about corrosion anc dis-coloration after use and time.

#2 He can't even identify what a "PC" is and where it's located

#3 He had no idea there was an aftermarket exhaust on his bike

ALL TOTALS UP TO BS!!!!!!!!!

I think all he has on is a slip.

theres any easy way to figure out if you have a pc3 man.. look at your battery, look at the negative terminal, if there is an extra wire then theres a good chance you have a pc3.. find where the wire goes and it will lead your to your pc3
