aluminum heat sheild

i just installed my new can on my 05 rr.

when removing the stock exhaust i took off the large aluminium heatsheild panel that lines the under tray.

My question is will it be safe to run my new exhaust without this part?
Currently i have not re installed it but would like to be sure i dont come back with a melted seat unit the next time i go out on the bike!

for those of you who have put an aftermarket can on... did you remove the heat sheild or not?
and did you experience any problems?

should be a million threads on this. should be fine, seeing as most of us run our bikes w/o the heatshield. i have a full akra, no heat shield anywhere

When I Changed My Exhaust I Left The Heatshield Out The Exhaust Came With A Heat Reflective Type Of Sheet It Was Self Stick . It Lokked Like Aluminum Foil. You Just Stick It To The Bottom Of The Seat Never Had No Problems
