Fuel pressure regulator help!

Hy guys, I'm trying to diagnose a problem with my pals bike. The thing is misfiring and popping bad. I'm getting spark to all the cylinders, which lead me to a possible fuel issue. I removed the vacuum line of the fuel pressure regulator, and gas poured out. Is it safe to assume the diaphram in the regulator is broken? Its my understanding that there should be no fuel on the vacuum side....Can someone verify that for me, or correct me if I'm wrong? Thanks in advance, Chris

I don't think there should be fuel in there but backfiring is usually a timing issue. Flames usually means it's running lean. Mine spits flames out of the tail ;) What kind of bike is it?

Its an 01 F4i, its not really backfiring, more like dropping cylinders and running terrible. Its also hard to start, which is why I'm thinking this thing is bad.

Fuel comming out of the fuel pressure regulator indicates the diaphram inside is broken, replace it before you do any further diagnosis.
