Exhaust Question

Ok i have an 03 600rr. Previous owner cut muffler off and just has stock midpipe on there. I have a 10" lor exhaust pipe and no mid pipe. If i get a midpipe made can i do away with all the heat shields or will it melt something. i have seen a few of yalls bikes with the chrome midpipes and no shield and would like to do away with myself.

You can do away with the heat shields. They really do nothing but make it take a little longer for your ass to get warm.

Yeah, you shouldnt have a problem, I put heat tape above the pipe on the plastics just to be safe...
