Does a PC3 USB reset if you remove it from the bike?

hey guys, got a used pc3usb for $200 and need to install it on my bike... do they reset (go to no map) when removed? I don't have a laptop or computer in my garage but my friend does... thinking if it's going to have the map that was loaded on the previous bike (same bike, different exhaust... think it was stock exhaust with baffle removed) and then ride over to his place and have him use his laptop to update the map with the proper one for my exhaust...

it's not far from my place to his but he can't leave cause he has 3 kids to watch at night.

What do you think?

Yeah it will save the previous map. Shouldn't be that big a deal to run it a few miles.
