An HRC unit is the best way to go. It is always adjustable. A flashed ECU rewrites the parameters and to change you have to flash it again.
Most top racers will use them together. Here is why in short.
A fuel control unit only allows you to add or lessen fuel delivered to the engine.
A flash or kit ecu allows you to change many many more things. timing, secondary throttle plate maps, small oem functions like butterfly valves can be eliminated and the list can go on depending on the bike model.
To get the most out of your engine you need both units. For the street rider a fuel control unit is plenty.
But....in my opinion, bang for the buck is ecu mod (flash only). Your throttle response, hp gains and bike smoothness are all improved.
You can send it to someone who knows what your bike needs and boom plug and play. I even wrote my pcv map onto my zx6r ecu.
I say flash only as an hrc kit ecu plus wiring is prob almost $1000.Plus the cost of having someone program it to what you need. I am new to honda but this was a cost for my zx6r. I figure it would be roughly the same
This is a very very short answer. I don't want to type for an hour. haha
Hope it helps you in your decision.
