New exhaust...Remove rear heat shield?

Did everyone who installed an aftermarket exhaust remove the rear heat (under passenger seat) shield from between the tail plastics & muffler? It looked like crap with it on so I took it off, but was concerned about the heat from the from the exhaust melting plastics or electrical stuff. Wondering about your experiences.

I was thinking about adding some heat reflective tape underneath to help?

Thanks

Well, I see Cling gave you the old search lesson. That's all well and good.

To answer your question, as opposed to making you look for an answer, i'll give you may $.02;

I took mine off. I've had no issues with heat, and my gf has not complained. I also have a CF pipe, which, I believe, doesn't heat up much (if any...i can ride it all day and put my hands on it)

I seem to recall some aftermarket exhausts...I believe Yoshimura, come with some sort of heat protecting material
