Seems to be a pretty popular topic of discussion on here, so maybe the Mods could make this thread a sticky & people can all post up their modified settings???

I went to Oulton Park for a trackday last week here in the UK and these are the standard(?) suspension settings my bike was on and those after 100% Suspension worked their magic to make the bike less wallowy, more focused, a lot sharper on handling and better able to hold a line through corners.

http://100pcsuspension.co.uk/flashpage.html

For info: I weigh about 80kg / 175lbs

Standard

Front
Free Sag = 22mm
Compression = 2 turns out from fully in
Rebound = 2.5 turns out from fully in

Rear
Free Sag = 8mm
Compression = 19 clicks out from fully in
Rebound = 2 turns out from fully in

100% Suspension settings

Front
Free Sag = 22mm
Compression = 1.25 turns out from fully in
Rebound = 0.33 turns out from fully in

Rear
Free Sag = 8mm
Compression = 10 clicks out from fully in
Rebound = 1.5 turns out from fully in

I hope people might find this useful and want to share their own settings.

Here's a guide on how to measure your free & rider sag:

Just found this thread. Hope you guys can help me out. I have 07 for a track bike. HAD it and my 08 graffiti set up by an x honda racer, he should know everything right?

Wasn't allowed to watch. Only sat on the bikes once before he did his settings. Pretty much I didn't learn **** and didn't care. I paid for it, thought it was getting done right

But guys at the track have adjusted it, I'm constantly asked whats this set at and whats that blah blah blah...I just want to f'ken ride but looks like I have to learn

I'm 5'9" and 130 lbs Any tall skinny guys got track suspension settings for me to start with??

How about this one guys. 5 7" 195 lbs. Ride mostly back streets that are a bit bumpy. Question is it's dropped 3 and stretched 6. Any good suggestions for settings?

hi there i have some pics for you the lines are in dutch but i wil try to translante it so for give me any wrong words

first picture is ,is mij rigthfork ,

the blue screw is the tension of your spring , my setup is from hard 2,5 clicks to te left
the little one is rebound . yust like above i addept this and every time i felt needed i changed it

@ picture 4 you see the compression , this one stand compleet soft.

picture 2

is the rearshock rebound al clickt to hard and than i clikt it 3 times softer ( to the left )

picture 3 is the compression of the shock, this is like the other step above go to full right ( hard ) en try one or 2 clickd at time .

the tension of the spring from rearshock is te soft this i changed to stand 6

Wright everthing what you do with your suspension on a sheet . so that you have a back up ..

with this setup i ride on trackdays en let it chek by a suspension specialist,
its good fore now but this year i am going to try improve my times on the track .
tyres wil also be a part in it with the tyrepressure . ect ect .

my times

Zolder 1,53,900 (belgium)
ales ( france)1.33.500

Can anyone translate this a little better for me, i am 6'0 around 225 with gear and I want to adjust my suspension...as far as I know my bike is stock and from what Ive read I need to adjust it... either post on here or pm me all help is appreciated!

p.s. the pics that go along with the quote are a few pages back....

I'll make this as simple as possible. Your height and weight vs. someone else is totally useless information if you want to get the setting correct. The most important thing that you can do is to get your sag settings correct........no matter how much you weigh or how tall or short you are.

Track setup: Front sag.........35 to 38mm
Rear sag..........25 to 28mm

Street setup: Front sag..........38 to 45mm
Rear sag............30 to 35mm

Having said that, everyone has different riding cirucumstances, styles, and road conditions that they encounter. So, there is not one perfect setting just because you are for example.........5'8" and 195 with gear.

The above setting are always WITH riding gear on. My weight is approx. 190 lbs without gear and it goes upto 210 or so WITH gear, so that has to be taken into account when setting up your sag.

Rebound and compression damping is also important, but there again, there is no "magic" number that works for everyone.

yes, you need softer springs for the forks & shock.

i'm glad i could be of assistance, it must be uncomfortable riding a bike with overly stiff springs for your weight. if you ride 2 up the stock springs are ok but for solo riding it's too much.

n 0.85 kg/mm fork springs & 9.5 kg/mm shock spring should be good for your weight.

0.85 kg/mm fork springs & 9.5 kg/mm shock spring should be good for your weight.

what is the weight range for this? say 125-145lbs??
probably, i run a 0.90 kg/mm fork spring & 10.5 kg/mm shock spring, i weigh around 160-165lbs fully geared up.

i always complained to my honda dealer about uneven wear in my front tyre and as everytime they either said that i did not ride my bike properly or they made fake changes to the settings and everytime i was charged for labour. i was never allowed to watch.

i've been riding my cbr600rr 06 for 3yrs now and i was too afraid to touch the suspension settings till now but after reading the 600rr forum and nearly everything i could find on suspension on the web i deceided to try it.

to begin with all the setting were wrong...
Front:
left preload : 5 1/4 turns from soft
right preload : 3 3/4 turns from soft
left compression : 1/2 turn from hard
right compression :1 turn from hard
left rebound : 1/2 turn from hard
right rebound : 2 turns from hard

Rear:
preload 4
compression 12 clicks from hard
rebound 1/2 turn from hard

Don't know what u think about these settings but it was clearly the worst set up bike let alone that it may have been dangerous...

Now with my limited knowledge i've tried to adjust it
now front is :
preload : 3 turns from hard
compression : 1 turn from hard
rebound : 1/2 turn from hard

Rear is :
preload 8
compression 3 clicks from hard
rebound 1/2 turn from hard

It feels like a new bike now but still in corners i feel like the rear is sliding a little bit and on bumps it feels as if the bike want to kick me to the sky...

Can u guys suggest which setting i should adjust for it to be a better bike?

I'm 200lbs 6 1 " and i cant change shock or spring there's no track and no suspension specialist here where i live. it's a road only bike.

#66 ·
if the bike feels harsh over the bumps reduce the compression damping, if the bike feels unstable or wallowing at the corners increase rebound damping. this goes for both forks & shock.

#69 ·
personal preference i guess. i run mine at 35mm & i still have a generous amount of preload left but i do want my suspension to be more compliant to bumps.

I have been gradually tweaking my suspension from the stock settings and feel I have arrived at reasonable settings for street riding. I have no track experience, and only a couple of years of riding under my belt, so take them for what they are.

Height: 6'1"
Weight: 205 lbs without gear

Front preload: 7 turns from minimum (sag is about 1.5 inches)
Front compression: 1.5 turns out from full hard
Front rebound: 2 turns out from full hard

Rear preload: 4th position (sag is about 1.5 inches)
Rear compression: 20 clicks out from full hard
Rear rebound: 2 turns out from full hard

The front and rear sag are estimates because I don't have anyone to help me actually measure it.

This has made the bike feel more planted in the turns and it doesn't squat nearly as much when getting on the throttle. The front end feels like it could still be improved though (along with my riding skills!).

*Edited for update*
Just tweaked the front rebound and rear compression a little bit and it seems to have evened the bike out. The front end is more settled. I also upped the tire pressures a bit since most of my riding is commuting. They're about 35psi front, 40psi rear.

Front preload: 7 turns from minimum (sag is about 1.5 inches)
Front compression: 1.5 turns out from full hard
Front rebound: 1.5 turns out from full hard

Rear preload: 4th position (sag is about 1.5 inches)
Rear compression: 19 clicks out from full hard
Rear rebound: 2 turns out from full hard

Is it true that adjusting your suspension on the front will scratch up the adjusters on the top of the forks? I had my local shop adjust the set up for my weight and check the rebound with me on the bike. He told me that there was no way he could prevent the scratches. Is this true?

It could be done.. But would be classed as being anal to some people.

The only way ( And still is'nt 100% ) Is to use either a nylon sleaved socket ect or put some lecky tape around the hex. But this will happen to any painted nut ect at sometime.

Dont stress about it. Unless he used some Vise grips to crank on them.
