Where are you guys being new engines from?

So I saw a couple of people post in this forum about just buying new motors instead of rebuilding one. I just called Honda to see how much a new motor would cost for my 05 cbr600 instead of getting a rebuild done. But they just told me they dont sell CBR motors.... So my question is where the hell are you guys getting brand new motors from?

I'm no sure about "new" engines but I bought a used engine off ebay with a guarantee way back in the day. It lasted till the day it was stolen. I think I paid $1200 shipped.

Last year I had my 08's engine rebuilt for $2200. For the price it was worth it. Just dropped the bike off and three weeks later picked it up freshly tuned and broken in, ready to ride.

The only reason I can see to buy an engine from eBay is if yours is damaged. Otherwise I would just rebuild it.

I found out the head gasket is taking a **** on me. 2k for a rebuild is not bad at all. I will be going that route. I'm starting get to look for shops in the area and I love the 05 design as well not big into the newer cbrs.

When I lived in Chicago and was big into cars I once bought a used engine for my mitsubishi 3000gt vr4 and had a very bad experience with being burned. I don't like the idea of buying used motors unless I can see them run before hand. If I have to spend a little bit more to make sure it works and have fresh everything other than just having some guy say this is like new or low miles I would rather do that. I might even try to tackle the motor myself and than just take it to a machine shop which that would cut costs down drastically.

You can drop the engine very easily so if you go that way you'll definitely save some cash. Just a heads up tho most of engines on ebay do come with a warranty
