Differences between CBR600RR engines 07, 08, 09...

I'm part of a team building an autocross car and we need a CBR600RR engine.

I've been told to source an 07 or 08 engine, but also that engines from 09 and onwards may be suitable too. Does anyone know any good sources where I can get some definitive information on how the engines differed year to year?

If you google or search for topics even on this forum you will notice there are quite a few posts refering and analyzing the differences on the engine and periferals.

What I can tell from my short experience on this bike is that differences are very small and at the end of the day it's more important to buy a low mileage engine rather that looking to buy a 2009+.
Both engines have more similarities than differences and all generations work with the same electronic mapping which tell a lot about the characteristics of the those engine.
If you would like more details I would say to visit a local Honda shop to check the part numbers...

09 isn't as strong as 07-08. EPA regulations made them cut some off the top. Not a deal breaker in the slightest though.

The ECU retards fueling in 6th gear at a certain RPM, that's all; mechanically the engines are the same and are capable of the same. The Bazzaz Z-Bomb for 2009+ 600RRs eliminates this and makes it a 'full' 2007 spec engine.

(or maybe all gears, I just know it's a timing thing and nothing endemic to physical design)

edit: Or I think you can just straight up plug in a 2007-08 ECU and you're good to go. (someone please confirm or deny)

That's not the same with European bikes because of the immobizer system you cannot simply chance ecu's
At the same time there isn't any problem with retarding ignition on both 600 and 1000.
Either way I don't think our friend Nim-bus will use standard ecu ;) :)
