Seals in airbox buildup
I just pulled apart my 2009 airbox down to the throttle bodies and adjusted my valves. One thing that I noticed was that the airbox assembly which consists of three distinct parts does not have any seals. It has three surfaces that are grooved, the other surfaces that mate have a raised area (almost like a flange) that fit into the grooves. When I look at the 2008-2009 parts manual, it shows a set of O-rings that appear to fit into the grooved areas. I ordered and fit them in but there is no way that you can fit the parts back together, way too tight because the O-rings completely fill the groove and leave absolutely no room for the raised area (flange) to fit.
When I took the airbox apart, it didn't have any seals in it in any of the three mating areas. I'm now wondering if there are some that need the seals and other variations that just use the flange fitting into the groove and that is what seals it.
If any of you have dis-assembled your airbox and noticed no seals, please let me know. Mine is a 2009, but other model years may be the same.
Thanks for the help,
